It was 44 degrees and raining. I wore a skirt, tights and clogs. I'm allergic to wool--the tights were cotton. Either I scrounge up the money for boots or it's back to jeans...
We won't know anything about the recruiting until tomorrow at the earliest. The coaches can't talk to him until then per NCAA rules. I'll let you know. Thanks so much for the prayer cover. If things don't go well tomorrow, it's going to be a very difficult [solo] parenting day...

A nibble here and there, but the holiday week is slowing things down.
However...
Today, I think he found a mentor, someone who really gets sports, someone who is well-connected with a formidable university for a kid who wants to be a journalist, and someone who really likes him. Tonight, things are looking more promising than they have in a long time. Keep praying ladies, because I really think you all are the key to this...If this works out, I promise to tell all .

Praying. This whole time of college decisions is a real pins and needles experience!

Praying for Michael and the decision over the next few weeks ... my stepdaughter is in a similar process for volleyball...the waiting can be really tough on those who love the kids!

This process is gong about as badly as possible. He's coming to the realization that a scenario where he plays soccer is unlikely. And that's pretty much flooring him (and a lot of people around him). It's 4AM and I'll spare you the details but I'd really appreciate your prayers. Now, he's finally looking at college from a more typical angle. And now, he's figuring out that we need to apply the typical way. Only we've homeschooled all the way through and we're discovering that A LOT is expected of him in the application process. I couldn't et him to look at this last summer because last summer he had coaches telling him there was a place for him. (Last summer, I didn't have a nursing baby and I had much more time and attention for this.) Several schools want a detailed portfolio: a description of every course he's taken and lists of every book he's read. They also want several essays and they want the SAT 2 in at least three courses. It's a lot of hoops to jump. Application deadlines are January 1st. He's scheduled to leave Christmas evening for a weeklong recruiting tournament in Florida--he ahs to go because he's committed to his team. That means we need to have all of this finished before Christmas.
Emotions are running high. Dad is pretty much on the road right now. I really didn't see this coming. I want to be supportive. I think there are lots of silver linings here. He doesn't see any of them. And my heart really breaks for the little boy who just loved this game so much and who believed all the grown men who told him there was a place for him at the next level. He's learning so much about life so fast right now and it's a very bad time of year to be trying to process it all.
Please pray.
