Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've never heard of this one. What kind of book is it? Is it fiction? What is it about?

Oh, I really enjoy In Conversation with God! I'm so glad it was mentioned here for Advent reading.

I am listening to Fr. Phillip Chavez's Advent retreat Prepare Ye the Way. I heard Father speak at a retreat for families a year and a half ago, and WOW. When I saw a flyer indicating St. Joseph Communications was selling an Advent retreat he gave, I knew I ought to look into it.

Natalia -

The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur is the journals/diary that Blessed Elisabeth Leseur kept. She lived (I think) 1861-1914, with a husband who was an atheist. She suffered much criticism and difficulty from her husband, as well as physical hardships due to poor health; eventually she died from cancer. Her husband was converted through her prayers and example and after her death he became a Dominican priest.

Peace,
Nancy

I am reading Advent & Christmas with Fulton J. Sheen -
we actually use it as a family during nightly prayers. We light our Advent candle, read, pray and discuss.

I'm really excited about my Advent reading! I have a little excerpt on my blog of Love Does Such Things by Rev. Raymond. It's just beautiful!
