Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The genealogy thing is fun. My mom's cousin recently visited some distant cousins in Aberdeen, and the parallel employment histories were really funny. both sides of the Atlantic had roofers and lawyers.

On the Irish end (on one side), my family has been in the US since 1795, when they were told that they had to join the Orangemen, or there would be "no future" for them in Ireland. They left, and converted to Catholicism when they got here (there's a lot of "converting to Catholicism" in my family tree).

On the other end of things, my great, great, great grandmother's cousin was Rachel Walker, Paul Revere's second wife. She was disowned from that English corner of the family because Revere worked with his hands.

One more detail...my great great grandmother on my father's side was a Faulkner (that's for you, Kathryn!). Her husband was an artist, and drew the definitive illustration to Whittier's poem Maud Muller (a very sad story of a love that was not to be ) using his wife as a model. I have an official (approved by Congress!) print of that portrait in my living room.
