Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Trader Joe's Spicy Cider, hot, with a splash of rum for the grownups. Trader Joe's Spiced Chai Latte. Mulled wine. Hot cocoa with a peppermint stick and marshmallows. Mmmmm!

Marianna and I stopped at our favorite ice cream place, Mr. C's for a treat today. Mr. C moved down to the Keys from NYC where he used to have an Ice Cream Cart and his gelatos are delicious! He had a special one today, Pumpkin Pie - wow! It was so good, I want to use it in an ice cream pie in a molasses ginger cookie crust for the holidays rather than a traditional pumpkin pie.
I found a sorta-maybe-similar recipe for a smoothie, it sounds pretty fab. It'll make a great autumn breakfast, don't you think?

1 cup pumpkin puree
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
Dash of cinnamon
Ground cloves and whipped cream for topping

I can't believe I made it to page two and my ideas weren't ALL posted.

Hot Buttered Rum (sans rum for the younger crowd) is very yummmy.. think butter, brown sugar and spices for flavor.

hot chocolate and cider are given here too

cinnamon apple tea is a favorite

And now and again I like a hot toddy (when not pregnant).. it's a bit of sugar and cloves and lemon with a shot of hard alcohol (rum, vodka, whiskey etc) and fill the cup with hot water.

oh and cafe au lait can make a great "kid coffee"

Bumping this thread as I have found a good recipe that fed my craving after reading Elizabeth's post about Starbuck's Gingerbread Latte. I haven't set foot in a Starbucks in a very long time, so I don't know how their Gingerbread lattes taste. I don't know how the following recipe competes, but I made it tonight for dinner guests with great reviews. Here it is...

Gingerbread Latte

Gingerbread syrup:
1/3 cup molasses
3 packed Tbsp. brown sugar (or more )
11/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Mix all of the above ingredients in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.

Beat 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 2 Tbsp sugar, and 1 tsp ground ginger together in a bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Make a pot of fresh brewed strong coffee (at least 4 cups). Pour coffee and 1 Tbsp of gingerbread syrup into each of 4 mugs stirring until the syrup dissolves. Add 2 Tbsp of Half and Half cream to each mug. Serve with a dollop of ginger whipping cream and a dusting of ground cloves.

Enjoy!

All your ideas have my mouth watering! I think I am going to make up a little booklet with all these ideas! Please keep sharing!

I just put up a morning post with a bunch of "hot drink" recipes.

This is the perfect time of year for warming our children's tummies with warm soothing drinks.
