Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm B.

I was baptized in the United Methodist Church...we went to church on Sundays as a family throughout most of my childhood, my mom and dad were involved in activities at church, but we didn't really practice our faith as a family outside of Sunday mornings. We didn't read the Bible together or pray together. I heard a lot of anti-Catholic rhetoric from my mom. We lived in south-central Louisiana (a very Catholic area) until I was 12, so a lot of the kids I knew were Catholic, and I was kind of fascinated by all the tradition and ritual. In fact, I actually received the Eucharist as a young child when we went to Mass one time as a family...my dad was going through an exploratory phase, I guess. I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to receive Communion, but I like to think of that instance and that Jesus has been calling me back to Himself ever since then.

In high school, I used to join my other friends in "ganging up" on the Catholic kids and asking them a ton of questions. I thought Catholics were crazy for not using birth control and that they worshipped statues and Mary. In college, I had a Catholic friend who told me what Catholics actually believe about Holy Communion (that the bread and wine ACTUALLY become Jesus's Body and Blood) and I thought he was totally nuts. Less than 3 years later, I was reciting the Creed whole-heartedly and receiving the Sacraments for the first time in the Catholic Church.    (happy tears here). I never thought I would end up Catholic, but I am SO SO SO thankful that God has brought me into His Church. I am so undeserving of His mercy and grace and He has so tenderly and gently brought me HOME to the Catholic Church!

A and E

I was baptized as an infant and since then attended Sunday Mass and HDO regularly except for 1 year in college. That was a very painful year. I also went to catholic schools 7 out of 12 years. At home faith and Church teachings were never discussed, "That is why I send you to Catholic schools:" There was no devout homelife. But in the very depths of my heart, the Catholic Church has always been my home and my identity.

This is why Catholic Culture in the home is so important to me.

B with a dash of D. Baptised and brought up Methodist in a family with a long, strong Methodist tradition. Stopped attending chapel in my teens. Went through a brief atheist phase and a longer agnostic phase before becoming Catholic in my mid 20s.
