Jenn,
I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this! We had the same thing happen at 10 weeks. It was so hard! Make sure you take it easy for the next couple of days. I made the mistake of going to the store too soon after the D&C (with Tim driving) and started blacking out in an isle.
We will pray especially for you today at 2pmEST and throughout the week. May the Holy Spirit grant you and dh peace and comfort!

Janette,
I was going to say the same thing. Sometimes it has seemed to take days for that anesthetic to make its way completely out of my system.
Pamper yourself a bit, Jenn, and when your little guy is asleep, cry as much as you need to, for as long as you need to, and know that many prayers for comfort and healing are coming your way.

I'm doing okay so far. The procedure was extremely fast and I feel really good so far. I was blessed to have it done by our favorite OB, too. I have a bit of cramping and bleeding, but nothing debilitating. I'm taking it really easy, and my dh has been SOO supportive, and just told me he'll be home the rest of the week. I know the hormones will be kicking in soon, but I haven't had a good cry yet...it's all still kicking in slowly. My son is doing well, but he did know that something was going on, so he's had disturbed sleep, and wants Mommy, but Daddy is doing a great job doing both our jobs.
Yesterday the chaplain, Fr. Marcus Pollard came to the hospital before the procedure and really gave some consoling talk, and gave me Anointing of the Sick. Our big question was where is our child now...since he wasn't baptized. He explained that he is with God, having perfect happiness, not necessarily Limbo, citing JPII's Evangelium Vitae, number 99, particularly this paragraph. Although it is directed at abortions, it applies to miscarriages. My personal emphasis added. You will come to understand that nothing is definitively lost and you will also be able to ask forgiveness from your child, who is now living in the Lord. To read the whole section 99, see Evangelium Vitae. Also Father stressed that this child's soul is fully formed, so he would be an "adult" in heaven. It's harder on the grieving process if we view him as a baby, keeping track of his "progress" as if he were alive: "Now, ds would be 2 months old" etc. We should view him as an intercessor and protector of the family right now, and as an adult. We named the child "Karol Mary" -- I'm not sure yet if it was a boy or girl, but as you can see, we named him after our beloved Pope, but it could be female or male. I think through praying (as Dr. Bruchalski encouraged us to do) we'll discern whether it was a boy or girl.
Not having gone through this process before, nor with family members, this was newer information to us, and extremely consoling. So, that's what's going on the Miller household. Thanks again for all the support and advice and especially the prayers.

I'm so glad Fr. Pollard was able to meet with you, Jenn. He's my wonderful pastor! Also glad to read that Dr. B was there for you.
We have lost two children to miscarriage. I found it very consoling to name our babies. We pray for their intercession every night at the end of family prayers. I also tend to pray for their intercession in the area of being a good mother. I figure, who else would be better to pray for me as a mother than my own children who are with God?

Jenn:
Know that you are in my prayers -- my second miscarriage that I had last week didn't necessitate a D&C because I had miscarried at home. The good news was that there doesn't seem to be any medical reason that I couldn't have a successful pregnancy -- we'll see what God has in store for us.
Know that you are in my prayers, that a good cry helps, but more importantly, a supportive spouse (which is sounds like you have!)helps get through the worst times.....
Blessings to you, your dh and your little one.....

I wanted to echo the great advice you've been given, especially to give yourself time to grieve. I know everyone is different, but after my miscarriage it took a while to sink in, and then several months before I felt more like "myself" again.
You and your family are in my prayers.
