Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When I hear people say the Church needs to stay out of their bedrooms, it seems like a major contradiction. Isn't God/our Faith, etc. supposed to be "life-giving"?

I've heard this so many times! And it always causes me to think of St. John the Baptist when I hear it...a martyr who lost his head for not staying out of Herod's bedroom.

I have a question...how do you respond about IVF?

We know of a couple who did IVF (we met them after the fact) but they'd again consider it.

What should I say? What would you say?

Thanks in advance!

In regards to IVF...I always bring up that they fertilized something like 80 eggs (i.e. MOTHER OF 80) and only one or two is aloud to live.

Albeit, I probably wouldn't say this to everyone!

Good question. I've had that come up only once or twice and I just fell silent. What DO you say? "Yuck" seems a little immature. Poor babies. My dh works with a woman who is "confused" and did IVF to get pg, she only allowed 2 to live . What an age we live in.

Exactly. When you have children and are open to life, that is actually something quite normal and natural. God created us to want to procreate, but the perversions of society have twisted our little minds and hearts away from this state. Each of us has a free will, but society's influence makes it very difficult for people today.
I believe that a lot of those snide remarks comes from being defensive of their own choices.

I also believe that the example of families open to life does give others courage to also follow along this path.

Stephanie, I think you are right. I have had a reasonable number of people stop me in the grocery store and tell me what an inspiration I was to them (with my infant twins in a double front pack, pushing my 18 month old & my 5 yr old dd pushing my 3 yr old dd in a stroller). Then of course there are those who grab their spouse as they feign fainting and gasp at us...making us feel like a freak show.    Or the people who try not to stare when I am looking their direction, but as soon as I look away get their friend or family member's attention and point to us in awe.
