Thanks everyone for your prayers for my f-i-l's heart surgery yesterday. They put in a valve and did a bypass. The surgery was successful, as far as we can tell so far. Thankfully, he made it through well, but is in a lot of pain. I guess time will tell as far as how his recovery goes. Dh flew out to AZ to be with his parents for the surgery. (Actually, 9 out of 10 of the children were able to be out there with them for at least part of the week before the surgery or for the surgery itself.)

Dh is so relieved that all went so well. Everything was so risky that he even packed a suit, in case he would be staying for a funeral. And instead, he's on his way home this very minute!

My father-in-law could use your prayers again. After 8 days, he has not yet recovered from the heart surgery. He was very weak in the days after the surgery and got pneumonia. They put him on a ventilator and sedated him because most people freak out about the tube down the throat and try to tear it out. Now, earlier today they did a tracheotomy to help with the breathing. It sounds like he will remain in a sedated state for the time being.

This is so hard on dh. He talked to his mom earlier and she admitted that she's having a difficult time with everything. Please pray for them all.

My father-in-law passed away on Tuesday morning. He never recovered from the heart surgery and had numerous complications in the weeks that followed.

Please pray for the repose of his soul and for comfort for my mother-in-law, dh, and the whole family. And please pray for safety for those (including dh) traveling for the funeral. Thank you so much.
