Things are going a bit better. Mandatory rest for mommy, the 4yrold and the 2yrold every afternoon 1pm-3:30pm has REALLY been helping- I'm not in my 20's anymore
I have made a real effort to pray and offer myself and dc to God, thru Mary, frequently durring the day *and, getting that Rosary in*.
Talking about this struggle here and getting so much support makes a world of difference, I have been both encouraged and made to laugh , helping to banish the mommy guilt (which is as much of a demon as lack of sleep)
Bridget, I remember your struggle, and success from the yahoo group. It was an insparation to me then as it is now.
My dh said last night that the children aren't my life, but rasing them is. We discussed that being a mom at home and one who takes on the sacred duty with holiness in mind does so at a great cost- and heaven is the reward (for us, our spouse, and the dc). With this in mind 3 things must be in balance: My authority, my compasion, and my person. When these are out of balance the dc form the own society and ignore me (ala Lord of the flies ). So, recognize when these things are out of wack, know that you need to back off of anything stressful (like a 2yrold birthday party that turns into a sit down dinner for extened family ), be more gentle, and give NO extra energy to the negitive behavior from dc.
Hmmmm... I hope some of this made some sense...
By the way, Kristine, I am NOT taking my dc ANYWHERE any more- especially to the store
God Bless,
Alison

I have to go to Confession more frequently, just to put that source of charity back in my heart. Especially when pregnant. It is so challenging to keep from irritation. That is my one key to restoration of peace.
And to have time nurturing my husband. When he is peaceful and satisfied, the peace radiates out to everyone and the home is transformed. That's why I am one of those wives who draws on the power of life-giving love (as Kimberly Hahn calls it) and has come to embrace that my particular husband and family needs this source of joy and calm unregulated, even during fertile times ---the graces from intimacy seem to pour out on everyone.

Nina ~ I got goosebumps reading that. So beautifully put. I'm getting my self to confession on Sunday too, thanks for the reminder. It's been over a month...
