Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The FDA Update is dated September 17. The Earthbound Farms press release is September 18. So could it be that their products have been recalled, but that as of September 18 they didn't find anything? 'Cause it's either that or one or the other is not presenting the whole truth.

Edited to say, the FDA has another press release dated 9/18 and EF is still on the list. Are they just being cautious, or is EF not being straight with us? It's so frustrating to not know who to trust.

Note that the recall was initiated on the 15th. So between the 15th and the 18th testing could have been performed on EF that they were able to release that statement yesterday.

Here in NC, one LLL Leader not far from me has a little girl in serious condition b/c of this. Please say a prayer for that little girl! I'm not sure WHY she was not included in NC' stats about the outbreak. They are still saying that no one in NC was affected but I know about this first-hand. Weird...

And spraying animal waste on crops is very, very common. That's the main way that hog "lagoons" are used.

Me too...and I'm not pregnant.

[QUOTE=Elizabeth] But this crisis really does point up how our food supply is a matter of national security. It odesn't take much to put a disastrous chain of effects in motion.

A while back I asked a farming hs family in this area if things were really as bad for farmers as the media portrays. The wife said Yes, it is. And if something is not done we will have to depend more so on foreign goods...without the regulations and security that we have here on our home turf. Scary thought.

Phil Lempert, food editor of the “Today” show, just did a segment on getting enough good bacteria into your belly.

He made the comment that they were linking the E coli outbreak to Earthbound Farms in California.   Big there.

My ears perked because I'd just read this thread here.

Not sure how up-to-date his info was but he said it on national tv. Whatever weight that holds.

Guess we'll have to wait to hear the end result.
