Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our 5yo will have surgery on both eyes Monday morning. Prayers that all will go well are much appreciated! Prayers for a safe drive (we have to leave before 5am) and for lack of anxiety at separation are appreciated too! Thank you!

Dear Janette and Tim,
I will definitely be praying for you all, after going through this with dd last month. I was so nervous about it all. And looking back from this side of a very successful surgery, I'd do it again in a heartbeat . . . and with way less worrying. I know that's easier said than done, but wanted to reassure you a bit.

And my dd had her one month follow up visit with the opthamologist recently and both the doctor and his assistant commented on how perfect dd's eye alignment looks now. I guess it doesn't get much better than the results he achieved with her surgery. So the prayers of this group are powerful when it comes to eye surgery!

Praying Janette! Boy, y'all have had quite the medical summer, haven't you? No break in it, no vacation...

Thank you all for your prayers. According to his doctor, Noah's procedure was successful -- no surprises or mistakes -- but we won't know for 6-8 weeks whether or not the problem was corrected. His eye muscles and brain need that amount of time to adjust to the 'new' control over the eyes.

The really fun part of the post-op procedure: we have some eye drops that he has to suffer through 4 times a day. And suffer, he does -- he absolutely hates eye drops.

In any case, he's back home and in front of the Gamecube...*sigh*

Good for Noah! Eye drops are a pain, but hey, sight is not something we need to fool around with. Hope he is back to better-than-normal soon!

Hi Tim and Janette,
I tried to reply a few days ago, but have been having trouble logging in until now. I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well. I'll pray that the next few months show it to be completely successful.

I had almost forgotten about the eye drops. I remember telling the doctor that the eye drop follow up treatment was actually much more traumatic than the surgery for dd!

One day Mary Chris came to the house to pick up dd for nature camp while I was in the midst of trying to give dd her eye drops. She was lying in my lap, kicking and screaming, while I tried to gently pry her eyes open and get the drops in. NOT FUN!

Mary Chris was such a sweetheart. She has a lot of experience with helping children through difficult medical procedures. She asked dd if she liked gummy bears. Dd does, of course, so Mary Chris came back later with a bag of them and told dd that she needed to be good for her eye drops and then she could have a gummy bear for each drop she got. What a difference in how difficult it all was! She wasn't perfectly placid about the drops, but it was way easier to get them in after that.

Dear friends,

I am asking for more prayers for our 5yo son. The surgery done on his eyes in August was not as successful as we had hoped, so he will probably need a second surgery on both eyes this summer. The final decision will be made in May, so we are asking for prayers that his eyes will heal without surgery through St. Lucy's intercession.
