The boys take off early today. Michael's friend Steve was able to make the trip after all. somehow that makes it seem like just another of many soccer trips. They've both been to confession; they've both gotten travel blessings; they're both wearing scapulars--and they have both had nearly eighteen years of solid Catholic upbringing. I can't think of anything else to do 'cept try hard not to cry when they leave. And pray hard the whole time they're gone.

I don't think there is much else you can do, except be proud of what an accomplished, mature and gifted young man you and Mike have raised.
You could also brag a little, we would love to hear how he came to be representing the US in such a prestigous way.
I have a strong feeling he'll be just fine. Prayers continue....

In my inbox this afternoon:
Hey!
I found an internet cafe finally. The flight went well...the hotel is nice, but Ciudad Real isnŽt exactly a pristine city. It was pretty hot today, (95)...we trained for 3 hours so that was kind of tough. We are scrimmaging some local team tomorrow. IŽll try to post pictures on my blog after tomorrowŽs session. IŽll send another email no matter what.
