I met Leslie in Front Royal, VA again today. We were both attending an anniversary picnic at Human Life International. We've been acquainted through the internet for a number of years now and even met in person before at a conference, but this was the first time we had time to chat in real life. It's so great to make connections like that.
She and her husband almost convinced us on the spot to move to Front Royal. Leslie, we talked about those 5 acres for a lot of the drive home!

I had my 20 week ultrasound on Monday. The baby rubbed his eyes and was kicking his little feet. He is currently in a breech position. I know the position can change, but my only other child who was like this at 20 weeks never turned, please pray that this little one does. We did not find out whether we are having a boy or girl, but my oldest son says that the baby's face looks like his so "the baby must be a boy."

I had lunch at Anne V.'s house (mom2mpr). She made us homemade bread with our lunch! We talked and read through Catholic Mosaic while the kids swam and played playdough. She even sent me home with some milkweed for our garden. It was a lovely day!

The first meeting of our Tea Party club (little girls ages 4-6) was today, and we had a "Fancy Nancy" (great book!!) tea party! 10 little girls in their dress-up box finest, sitting around my dining room table having "Parfaits--a fancy word for ice cream sundaes!"
Oh, it was heartwarming to have all those sweet ones listening to the story, then making a Fancy Nancy crafty to take home...and eat ice cream out of my mother's teacups and drink lemonade out of tiny champagne glasses!
I was a little nervous about having so many little ones in my space (I can get overwhelmed by the ruckus easily!), but they did beautifully, especially for little girls just meeting each other!
Next month's theme is "Tea with Teddy" and we're doing Teddy Bear stories & crafts. I'm really looking forward to having this club meet here this year, and for my girls to meet such sweet little friends!
Thanks for letting me swoon about it here! :)

My 13 year old told me he wants to make a holy hour each week, after going to adoration with his dad.
My 7 year old hugs me each time he sees me.
My Dh was just given tickets for corp. box seats for one of the world series games. Go Tigers!

Bridget, what lovely, happy things!
For me, yesterday -
My children got really involved in a Picasso art project that I suggested.
My 17 year old got another part time job and did well in the interview.
I had my hair cut and coloured.
Mass for St Anthony last night was peaceful and beautiful.

On Sunday, at Isabella's soccer tournament, one of the dads on her team said, "I really admire your family. I love Joseph and your children are all so well-behaved."
(OF course, not always)...I thought...
But he continued, "You know, I've been watching you and your family and you are wonderful with your children. I think that the more children you have, the more blessings."
Now, we've had so much scorn from the culture and from our families that this compliment took me aback. I'm not writing it here to brag either - believe me, we're full of flaws...but this compliment was like an elixir for my soul....
I really needed it...

We know it's not bragging.
We all need to hear the lovely, simple, uplifting things. Especially on days that it is hard to 'cowboy up' and there is sad news everywhere.
Your family IS lovely, Maria.
