Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

...and then she got back to me. But privately. She didn't post my note on the blog but she did send this to my email.

Elizabeth,
My apologies for not getting back to you sooner; I have been in
meetings in the city the last few days and am just catching up on email.

I am sorry you feel that way, as I value my customers' opinions. I do
have a different opinion of that quote, but I respect the fact that
our opinions differ. I do agree about the children part; I have an 8-
year-old daughter who is certainly not ready to have that
conversation yet!

Unfortunately the book is printed and this is something I cannot do
anything about.

It obviously bothers me that this quote has upset quite a few people
and I will certainly keep this in mind when reviewing future quotes.
I appreciate that you and others have brought it to my attention.

Best regards,
Nina Restieri

Elizabeth,

I am glad that Nina's response to you shows that she is listening to the feedback that mothers are giving her. I certainly didn't feel that way from her response to me. I think the fact that you are well known in the Catholic Homeschooling niche made her sit up and take notice. This is good.

I did notice that her blog item about this quote isn't accesible from the main page of "Dear MomAgenda." Those posts are all positive.

I wonder if I am the first person with a complaint about this quote. Nina did say that "quite a few" people were upset about it.

Thank you for responding to her blog, Elizabeth. I'm sorry she hasn't chosen to post any comments on her blog.

I'm pulling this back up because its time for me to buy a new planner! I've used and loved Michelle's this year. I'm debating about getting hers again, because I'm also wondering about this one from Motherhood Press.

http://motherhoodpress.com/Products.html

Its Catholic and there are no yucky quotes. But it seems to incorporate some of the features I love and miss about my old Franklin Covey planner, like the pages for weekly goals that are all mother and wife focused. And I confess I am a sucker for cute calendar stickers.

Has anyone seen this and if so, would you be willing to review it for me?

I came across this yesterday: Vickeroy calendars and planners and was interested in it because it has the days of the week in a vertical format. They also have vintage journals and very interesting covers...

But I also like to see the month up front, too. And I don't know if it also has monthly pages. I've got an email into customer service.

One downside, is that the 1st day of the week is Monday, not Sunday. That really irritates me.

I'm so picky!

I have used Michele's planner for several years now, but was drawn to the Motherhood Press calendar. I like the notebook idea and the weekly goals page (I have always used a spiral bound calendar).
I ordered it, and it arrived quickly. I really love the dividers, and the sections for all of the household information ... but ... you have to fill in the calendar pages. There are no saints listed, mass readings, etc. Just a blank calendar. I spent the morning filling in the pages for Aug through December.
I told my girlfriend that I could always buy Michele's calendar and insert the pages in the calendar section. Part of what I look for in a calendar is the daily information that Michele provides so cleverly.
I will just have to see how it works.

Molly,

You need to check out the book Time Management for the Creative Person. I bet you would fine it VERY helpful - I sure did.

Another good one is Organizing For Your Brain Type: Finding Your Own Solution To Managing Time, Paper, And Stuff

Both of these books have been super helpful to me. I highly recommend them if you find time management and organization a challenge.

FYI about my planner. Keep in mind for those of you that prefer a binder/notebook style that we do offer 7 hole punched small and 3 hole punched large. I have used the 7 hole with an inexpensive Franklin Covey binder from Target. You get all that extra cool stuff they offer plus the cool stuff in my planner.

And no we don't sell binders. . . yet. I haven't found a good source for them but eventually I hope to. If anyone has a lead for me I'd be happy to check it out.

I have a binder, so Michele's 7 hole planner works well for me. I've tried two other kinds of planners...my problem is that I don't remember to use it. I only wish I had a place to write a running list of things to do that haven't been assigned to a day of the week yet. But the margins are big enough so I have a lot of that chicken scratch. And I do add some notebook pages from Franklin Covey to just write out notes and keep them nearby.

I like the months separate, so I can put them at the beginning of each month. I need to see the whole picture before I see the nitty gritty.

Having the feast days and readings is just so wonderful.

I'll have to check out those books...I'm not sure what kind of brain I have! Do I even have a brain as of late?

Michele, I'm definitely buying the above book first. It'd be helpful, I guess, to find out whether I'm right, left, or not at all brained, as Jenn so aptly put it. Honestly though, I *don't* know where my natural tendencies lie since I've had baby after baby for the last 13 years. My world has been upset ... it's rather like having several pleasant earthquakes in a row.

Before children, I was soooo organized! We had one little spot on a shelf for mail and keys. Now, the mail piles up. I have bigger things to consider. Not only does the mail pile, I still have two buckets of winter clothing that just can't seem to make it into storage. Oh, and that doesn't count the four buckets of clothes I still haven't pillaged for summer clothing. Ugh! And have you ever noticed that it's *only* the one thing that you're looking for that seems to be missing (more often than not, that elusive sock)?

Does this book help determine your brain type? Does it help solve chronic organizational issues?

God bless,

Here's my two cents...

I have Michele's planner as well and do what JennGM does. AND IF YOU'RE GOING TO THE 4REAL CONFERENCE MICHELE IS GOING TO BE THERE AND YOU CAN SEE THE PLANNER IN PERSON.

To supplement, I bought a binder at Walmart, bought any extras that it didn't come with from Covey, and then shoved all my FlyLady stuff in the back. I use it often, but have blips -- like this morning....

We have to show up to the dr.'s office at 8;30 when it opens because that MIGHT be when my appointment is -- but I didn't write it down.

Oh no! Here I was thinking I could live without a planner this year. But I'm a planner junkie! I have to have a planner fix. And now I've got all these marvelous ideas and options running through my head.

But I have to say that the front runner at this point is Michele's wonderful looking planner! I'm also a sucker for three ring binders because then I can print out things off my computer (articles, ideas, personal lists, etc) and add them right to the planner). That yours comes in an 8.5 x 11 three-ring format just knocks it out of the park!

I'm sure my husband will be thanking you all for rekindling my planner habit! :D

Have to jump in here...I have loved Michele's planners 3 years now since my dear friend showed them to me back when I started homeschooling...I have used the smaller punched one in the same binder each time. I covered the binder with Catholic stickers. I used this planner form all of my HS planning, prayers, and even my Military FRG meetings... People were always needing to look at a calendar in advance ( as we would plan activities months out) and everyone would be looking at "Catholic notes and saints" right there in a meeting. I agree... you just can't beat a planner filled with all the Catholic Gems. I'll be ordering for the fall after payday.

Do you all find that a large (full sheet) planner is more useful or do you prefer the portability of a smaller (half sheet) planner?

I am a planner junkie. I haven't been able to see any of Michele Q's pages (other than the menue pages).

I like spiral bound better than 3-hole punched.

When I didn't have kids, I used the smaller for portability -- but with kids, half of the paper stuff I need to save is 8 1/2 x 11 -- so that's why I use that size. But it's a big thing to lug around!!
