Tracy-
according to the news video that accompanies the article you linked, the officer involved was travelling in the opposite direction, then made a u-turn after passing the van (headlights off) and was trying to catch up. it was definitely not a chase, at least not originally, but it sounds like there are a lot of unanswered questions that will make the situation more difficult to cope with.
so extremely sad and tragic. prayers going out to his family and friends...

Thanks so much for praying for our friends, the Moreno family.
Our friends will lay their son to rest this morning. I can’t even imagine the pain they are enduring already,and know they have so much more to endure. One never gets over the death of a child, it’s an emptiness that remains forever while here in earth. Thanks so much for your prayers, I know prayer is powerful, and a blessing, and I know they’d appreciate it SO much! :o(
