Water
Ok, I'm just a smarty pants.
These look like beautiful recipes...
For Juliana's First Holy Communion, we did a rainbow sherbert punch...
Rainbow sherbert
sprite
You can just eyeball it....
Now, regarding Iced tea - love it, but I cannot stand Long Island Iced teas....nothing personal about the locale, ladies, it's the taste (I've always wanted to use that icon).
Well, I'm off to the store...what are youmaking for dinner tonight?

Since you asked Maria, I'm going to start a new thread for this very question!
And keep the drink ideas coming, ladies! I am feeling a bit punchy just reading this fun thread!

Trip reminds me that he simply loves root beer floats. I prefer ginger ale floats, myself.

I have to be careful not to drink too much of these...or we'll see a Maria float.

My favorite root beer float is Blue Bell's Dutch Chocolate (I do pity all you who can't get Blue Bell) and A&W. Please tell me someone else out there prefers choc. ice cream to vanilla!
and speaking of margaritas and sangria - we had a hsing mom's night out last night at a Salvadorian restaurant (Gloria's) with yummy swirls. I LOVE mom's night out!

What about wine? What varieties (varietals?) are considered "summer" wines?

I love water, and I love fancy sparkling waters! Add a touch of lime, lemon or cranberry juice and I'm in heaven.

Not sure...to me "summer" wines are the ones that go down smoothly, not really rich in flavors and aftertones, more "Refreshing".
Trader Joes is our haven for inexpensive white wines. We love the Charles Shaw Sauvignon Blanc (under $4 here) for a nice casual drink. Another favorite is a Portuguees sparkling wine (although not marked as such) called Espiral Vinho Verde. Another $4 special! For fancier, I love Pouilly Fuisse French wine...and really, any dry white French table wine I enjoy. White burgundy.
Pinot Grigio I USED to like, but now I think it tastes too watery.

For the most part, I prefer reds, but I like chardonnay in the summer.
I also like Pindar's Summer Blush, which is refreshing and inexpensive.

There are some things a wife wisely never learns--honestly it took my months to be able to light the grill.
I have to wait until Rick gets home from work for the quantities but we use triple sec, tequilia and frozen limeade (a bit of water and ice).

Here's a nice non-alcoholic one:
Cherry Blossom Punch
2 bags Red Zinger herbal tea
2 bags Lemon Zinger herbal tea
2 cups apple juice
honey to taste
Steep the tea bags in 6 cups boiling water for 3-5 minutes (ours was more like 7-9 ). Mix in apple juice and stir in a bit of honey (1-2 tsp.) Serve over ice.
I found this is in Martha Stewart Kids but have also seen it made by the Barefoot Contessa. I served it today at our coop's final Japan lesson, along with blossom shaped cheese and fruit. It was a hit with kids and moms - very refreshing!

Sounds nice, Lisa! It's so funny for me to hear Trader Joes suggested as a wine resource, though - MA doesn't allow liquor sold in supermarkets! We have to go to the packey.
I happened to snatch a few moments of that Martha TV show today and I thought watermelon mojitos sounded yummy for the summer.

Virginia can't see hard liquor in grocery stores, but yes to beer and wine. In PA no alcohol whatsover. But in Indiane, ANY kind of liquor at the grocery store!
I just met Mary Chris today at Trader Joes and we both bought a bottle of Honey Moon. Looking forward to trying it. I told Mary Chris it might be a good one to serve for the Feast of St. John -- working on the the locusts and honey theme.

Lisa,
I am thinking I might try out the Trader Joes Honey Moon tonight. It has been a long couple of days.
Dawn, I am definitely going to try to Watermelon Mojitos!

, too funny, MacBeth!
(And for those outside MA, packey is short for package store. )
I have a confession to make - do you know what "wine" I like in the summer? Arbor Mist - ultra cheap, twist-cap and all, but so nice over ice!
