Our precious new daughter Naomi Rose was born safely by emergency c-section on Thursday 8th June  . Thank you to Michele for posting the prayer request for us and keeping you updated, and thank you more than I can say to everyone who prayed for us. Your prayers were answered!
We were sent to the hospital for monitoring after the midwife picked up at a routine check that Naomi's heartrate was high. The senior midwife who checked the trace wasn't at all happy with it. She called the obstetrician who liked it even less. When she realised Naomi had stopped moving and refused to be prodded into action she decided on an immediate emergency section. Naomi needed resuscitation so the first few minutes after she was born were scary with three paediatricians working on her simultaneously, but within a few minutes she was a good colour, breathing on her own and all the doctors were smiling . We were allowed a nice long cuddle before she was taken off to special care for checks and observation. An hour later she was given a clean bill of health and sent back to us.
I am making a near miraculous recovery from the section. I have had so little pain I haven't needed anything stronger than paracetamol (acetaminophin??) and feel remarkably well. We were both discharged from hospital today with a clean bill of health. Naomi is nursing very well and clearly plans to put lots of effort into growing. She was a tiny 5lbs 7½oz, but is very robust with a good set of lungs. You can see a picture of her at one day old on my blog. I think she is very cute  .
Erin and Mary, I hope you soon have your babies too - but preferably without so much drama!

Oh, Kathryn,I am so thankful that the midwife was on top of things like that, and that you and Naomi Rose (LOVE that name!) are feeling so well. I looked at her picture and she is so incredibly lovely!!! Look at all that dark hair!

So very pleased to hear from you, you have been constantly in my thoughts. Although I was pleased to hear Naomi had arrived I was worried as to how YOU were coping with the 'change' in plans. Good to hear you sounding well. The picture is beautiful

She is beautiful, Kathryn. Though small, she looks plump and well fed. I hope your recovery from surgery continues apace. I bet her big sisters are thrilled with her!

Kathyrn, what a scary delivery! I"m so glad you had such a competent midwife. Naomi is simply beautiful. I'm so impressed with how well you are handling the c-sec! Congratulations on your precious new babe.

Kathryn, I can't tell you how thrilled I am that all is well and, in spite of a very dramatic and frightening entrance into the world, little Naomi is healthy and happy.
