Happy Anniversary to the "June brides"! My Mom, sister and I all wanted to be June brides, but our dhs had other ideas.
We danced to I Will Be There by Steven Curtis Chapman. I had the song picked before I had the groom.

I guess I could say the same. The songs I picked were the ones I loved and were the most romantic to me. When Dave came along, I finally had the man to replace the "unknown love" in the songs -- the love now had a name and a face. I played these songs during our courtship and Dave loved them, too, so it was an easy decision!

This is so sweet. God planted the seeds, the music watered them...then you met your groom-bloom and now you have your own garden.
Maybe I should just go back to being weepy.

I'm right there with you, Maria! Got your box of tissues? I've been having such a weepy week...and not the good kind of sentimental weepy!

It was 1991 and we danced to Bill Withers - Lean on Me.
I love to hear it on the radio too!
Fun thread!

That was our song, too! My husband sang it to me when we were dating (along with the radio!) and just melted my heart. This from a woman who hated country music! I was converted to it by the love songs and that is primarily what I listen to now.
When I read the quote from the song just now, my eyes filled with tears. It is a beautiful song! And such a good reminder when times are tough of where we started and why we are still together. Sorry, just a little weepy here.

Molly,
I just went to Cowboy Lyrics to read the whole song and now I'm weepy too! I want to hear it but I'm to to ask my ds to show me how to download .

Hey Kristina,
Our first dance was "Moon River" also! But we purposefully chose it. I had a cd of romantic classics that we would occasionally dance to when we were engaged. That was our favorite. It still brings back memories of those months after falling in love and that "tingly all over" feeling!

What a neat thread! My dh and I first danced to "Devoted to You" by The Everly Brothers. We didn't have a 'song' before then, but this song's lyrics were beautiful and it seemed so timeless to us. We don't hear it much on the radio, though !

Hmmm ...
I was an atheist when we married, and Tom was a fallen-away Lutheran ... we were married by a judge and I shudder to think of what we danced to ....

We had a Bryan Adams song also -- but it was, "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?"
