Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here's a few ideas I've found for flip-flop decorating fun!

*Fluffy Feathered Flip Flops
Cut a feather boa the width of strap on your flip flops. Glue in place following the line of the straps. Works better than individual feathers.

*Blooming Flip Flops
Cut the stems off fake flowers, leaving just the flower head. Glue the flowers to the strap of your flip flops. You can also cut off some leaves and glue them on too.

*Rainbow Wrapped Flip Flops
Glue the end of the first color of embroidery thread at the beginning of the strap on one side. Begin wrapping the thread around the strap, making sure it is snug and closely wrapped so that the strap doesn’t show through. When you have had enough of that color, cut it on the underside of the strap and glue the end down, and start with a new color (its best if you can glue both ends at once in the same spot. Continue wrapping until your whole strap is covered! Could also wrap Friendship Bracelet style, or this style.

*Beach Bum Flip Flops
You’ll need sand, sea shells, and hey… you could get really wild and glue on a toy fish, seagull, or tropical drink umbrella even! Coat the strap with glue (for this technique, a regular liquid glue will work better than hot glue) and cover with sand. Shake the excess sand off, and check to make sure the strap is completely covered. Let the glued on sand dry. Then embellish with glued on shells, or other beach décor.

*Tasseled Toe Tickler Flip Flops
Purchase pre-made tassel trim at your local sewing or discount chain store. Cut the trim the length of your strap plus ½ an inch. Turn the ends under ¼ of an inch, and glue in place. Check out other trims too, sequins, embroidered, beaded...

*Reptile Lover Flip Flops
Glue a small toy snake on one flip flop strap and a toy lizard to the strap of the other flip flop. Could also use toy insects.

And in my quest for links and photos I even found a Family Flip Flop Activity that increases awareness of others' feelings that goes along with the movie Freaky Friday, your choice - original 1976 movie or recent remake, the activity would go with either.

Try the Reptile ones (they're from an old Martha Kids) and they were on boys...
