Praying for a miracle for Melissa and for her family. I can't imagine how they must feel to have such a sick daughter and no answers to help her.
Blessings,

An update on Melissa. I saw her aunt at Mass today. Melissa's condition is grave.
Please pray that she won't need a liver transplant. Surgery to remove her colon and getting a iliostomy seems a certainty without a miracle. A biopsy procedure through her aorta tomorrow will determine her fate of her liver so please storm heaven.
Her parents, Pat and Geralyn, and four siblings are also in need of prayers for strength.
Thank you all.
Love,

An update from Melissa's family:
"Hello, again...
As always, thank you all so much for all you've done and are doing! You are wonderful! Well, here's the latest...Melissa has so far received about 6 units of blood to replace what she's lost. Nothing can be done to help her liver until the bleeding stops. Right now, the liver seems to be holding on. Her liver situation was found by a 'fluke'; the clots were seen on a CT scan of her GI tract to find the bleeding site. It seems Melissa's body has moved into syndrome called "Budd-Chiary" (I think) where it tries to form clots anywhere just to stop bleeding. Her doctors have never seen it in anyone so young, and it's usually not found until after the liver's destroyed. So, this is a blessing! We should get the liver biopsy results back today or tomorrow. And she has a small time window here for treatment as well so long as its not progressing. We all believe this is a special gift from God! Today she's having another test to determine if the primary disease is ulcerative colitis, just involving the colon, or Crohn's disease, involving the entire GI tract. Wednesday or Thursday she will have surgery to remove whatever is bleeding (at this point it looks like her entire colon). Then she'll get about an 8 hour rest, and they'll start 'clot-buster' therapy hoping to dissolve the liver clots and save her liver, and pray that it won't start beeding from the surgery sites. Of course, the most ideal situation would be a total miraculous stopping of bleeding and not needing surgery. Next best would be that the disease is limited to ulc. colitis and surgery and all go well. So, please pray for these situations.
So many of you have been so supportive with prayers... thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless all of you!!"
Melissa's dad stopped by yesterday afternoon and was so encouraged by all of your prayers on this forum. Thank you so much, ladies (and gentleman!)

Melissa's mother is requesting prayers for Melissa this evening, as they have decided to operate immediately, and will be removing most of her colon to stop the bleeding.
Thank you all for your prayers.
