Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ana,

We're so sorry. You are all in our prayers. May Our Lady of Sorrows be with you and comfort you in this time.

I experienced one of my miscarriages around 10 weeks and it was like a mini-labor, though very short and not quite as intense. I remained at home. Also, you might want to have plans ahead of time. There is a blessing for moms in all kinds of circumstances. You could ask your pastor for the blessing if you wanted. Also, we made plans to conditionally baptize the baby and to bury him/her (in our case we did not have the actual baby's body) in our garden.

The grieving is intense - and lasts longer than most people expect. I was glad someone had prepared my dh for this part of the process as the grieving for moms and dads is so different! Most people simply assumed I had had a D&C and brought meals which were gratefully accepted as it was hard to function for a while.

Again, our prayers are with you both for the comfort that only God can provide in these circumstances and in the support in making whatever decisions are needed.

Janet

Ana, I'm awfully sorry.

You might want to print this thread and your announcement thread, and tuck it away somewhere. You may not feel like reading them for a while but I have found it helpful to have momentos of my babies that I lost. It's just a little way of hanging on to the memory of your precious baby.

Thank you ladies. We decided not to go on our trip. I am waiting for another ultrasound but am leaning towards just letting things happen naturally. I'm just a little nervous because I don't know when and where that will happen or what it will be like. I almost don't want to go anywhere until that happens but that my not be feasible. My mom is hesitating about going on vacation this week, but I told her I'd be okay. I don't know that there's anything that anybody could do and I could always call and talk to her.

My dh has taken the day off, maybe more, and has handled most of the calls, thankfully. The children took it hard, each in their own unique way.

I feel a little numb. But I will keep you posted. THank you for your prayers especially. I am so grateful to be a Christian right now. I cannot imagine going through this without the Lord or sisters in Christ.

Ana, I am so sorry.

I have had two miscarriages. The first required a d&c, due to hemorrhaging, but the second I was able to avoid any medical intervention. They were very different.

I so highly recommend the Psalms in times like this. They have gotten me through many losses.

God Bless you and your dear little one. I will be praying for you!!!!!!!!

Ana, I am so sorry for your loss. I have had two miscarriages, and let things proceed naturally both times. My miscarriages were two of the most painful experiences of my life. Now, years later, I find it a comfort to have two children already in heaven able to pray for me and our family. We named our two miscarried babies and ask for their prayers during our nightly family prayer time.

May God give you and your entire family much grace and surround you with His love during this sad time.

Dear Ana,

I am continuing to pray for you.
Catholic cemeteries (in our area and probably elsewhere) usually dedicate a portion of their cemeteries for the burial of miscarried and stillborn babies. Our little one, Mary Frances, is buried in the Holy Innocents section of one of our local Catholic cemeteries. We visit her grave and my mom's fairly regularly.
