Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just some small things I've heard about some of these suggestions in other places...the idea of taking essential oils internally is actually very controversial and can be hotly debated. There are folks on the net who have had very good experiences taking them and folks who have had horrible results ( a lot of the bad experiences are ulcers and holes in esophagus ). We've been researching taking them in regards to some Lyme protocols, but currently have decided against doing it internally. Now looking into the external approach.

ACV cleared up completely a friends reflux. Her doctor told her to take 1 tbsp straight before each meal till it got better. She had almost immediate results. And doesn't need to do it any longer.

I would second, triple?, the recommendation of Arnica. My teens like that so much better for there sport injuries than other pain relievers.

You seem to have been quite the "natural" Lent of sacrifice! I bet in the next week or so you'll get squared away I will pray for you!!!

I am praying that I am *literally* running and jumping into Mass on Easter Sunday!

This is good to know. I spend quite a bit of time looking into yesterday. I had a few red flags go off and I wasn't finding the information that I needed.   However, this might be a good rub to put on my hips.

I did drive for the first time yesterday in 6.5 weeks! It was not fun, but I need to do it. I might try to get to the health food store today to look into a few more things.

I can't find it, but I read an article just this week warning that they were reducing the suggested dosage from tylenol and how dangerous is was for your liver. I would research thst s bit more before relying on it for pain management. I do recall it being said that taking a little too much over a longer time was more dangerous than a single overdose.

Thanks Lindsay,
I purchased some Tylonol last night be I *knew* that that was an issue. I have been without ANY pain meds for 20 hours and I am surviving. I am going to see if I can manage without any OTC drugs.

I am hoping to find some more natural ways to deal with the pain today and purchase them or get them on order.

I am still looking into the essential oils (but likely won't ingest), DMSO, infarred heating pad.

I was able to take a bath last night, that has been my tried and true way to deal with pain for 9 years. It felt good to be in my happy place. It was scary getting out, but I did it.

I could be wrong--but it's only safe to ingest essential oils that are "therapeutic grade"--so you would need to find some like that. I don't think the stuff you'd get at whole foods would qualify. I could be wrong though, I've just begun researching and trying some essential oils.

Yay for a bath! I know it's safe to use epsom salts and essential oils--maybe that could bring more relief?

Not to turn the thread into an EO discussion but everything I'm reading says "therapeutic grade" is sort of like all the food in the grocery store calling itself "natural". Yeah it all is some ways.

I love the site Learning About Essential Oils. She isn't affiliated with any particular company. I think that is the hardest thing...finding a neutral source of info.

OH and about the tylenol...my mother had a friend from work many years ago who had a liver transplant after too much tylenol use...yikes!

I had to use Tylenol post heart surgery. I'm now allowed small doses of ibuprofen for now. That won't be forever.

When I get that gnawing for nauseous feeling from medicines, I have to treat it as pregnancy nausea and do not let my stomach get empty. And like you were saying, fattier foods that stay in gthe stomach longer. I wonder if a cup of coffee with cream and coconut oil might be effective?

Keep up the arnica both internally and externally.

For my incision my insurance covered lidocaine patches which were wonderful.

As someone else mentioned, Aleve is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). It's a more powerful one than regular Ibuprofen. I think the conversion is that 4 Ibuprofen equal one Aleve. NSAIDs are notorious for causing upset stomach.

My reproductive endocrinologist put me on a prescription NSAID, which is stronger than Aleve for severe menstrual symptoms I've been having. He told me to make sure I always take them with food, even if it's just a few saltines to help prevent them from tearing up my stomach.

My understanding is that Tylenol would help with some of the pain, but it is not an anti-inflammatory. That's why it might be less effective.

I just wanted to update everyone that I stopped taking all my pain meds and I managed to get through the week. I over did it a few days and it was hard, but I am much happier feeling "pain" than the "side effects"

Thanks for all of the advice, I am also taking a ginger pill now for my stomach and I ordered some EO's too.
