Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's honestly been too difficult to post this, but I'm having a productive moment. My husband found a new job. It's not where we had hoped for, but we're grateful for his employment.

Now the next part of our journey has begun, and we need prayers. We are separated and our home is on the market. This so difficult, I can't find words to explain.

Please pray for my husband while he is without us and finding his place in his new job.

I also ask for prayers for me, to keep it together, for my kids, and for our house to sell fast.

Otherwise, we are doing well and humbly appreciate your prayers during this bump on our road.

Congratulations to your husband for his new employment.

My husband and I were separated for a month and a half when we moved from PA to VA for my husbands new job. At the time we only had our first baby who was 6 months old at the time.

The months before and following the move were probably the toughtest months of my life.

I am praying for you.

Praying for you during this transition. We've had to do that a few times and I know it's not easy!

But.... Where in TX? We're in DFW.

Jen-

Congratulations and thanks be to God that your husband has found work.

San Antonio has so much to offer- history, beauty, great food!

The getting there is the hardest part... praying that your house sells soon.
I will add your intention to my St. Joseph novena, which starts today.

I'm so sorry for your struggles during this difficult transition.      I can't imagine moving half way across the country to an unfamiliar place and then esp being w/o DH!

On the positive side of TX though (we're also in DFW where it's flat, flat and well, flat) San Antonio offers the most beautiful part of TX with rolling hills, lots of trees and very affordable housing.    So, while it won't be NC, it will be much better than the (did I mention flat?) other areas of TX.

Trying to keep the positive for you and I will pray for you as we head down there for our Spring Break on Thursday. We've been at least 6x and yes, there is a wealth of history and topography and culture (and shopping!). It will be different but praying you find a wonderful community and home to welcome you.

San Antonio is beautiful. I have wonderful friends there, and from my understanding there is a fairly active homeschool group. In the meantime, I will include you in my prayers to St. Joseph that your house would sell quickly.

Peace.

Praying for you, and offering these uncomfortable moments while waiting for baby to finally come for you. That has to be so hard for ALL of you! I wish there was more to do to help relieve your trials, but at least we can pray for each other and offer things up! May Our Lord and Our Lady help you through this time, and make it speed by and be only a memory, soon.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Thank you, also, to everyone who commented on San Antonio. My husband hasn't seen much that " looks nice" and it worries him. We'll see!

Well, yes that would worry me. I might try and see what travel stuff I can pick up and post for you when we're there. Do you know what area part of San Antonio he'll be working b/c it covers a LOT of area. It's very possible his job is in a not quite so nice part of town.

His job is in Schertz which is about 20 min. east of northern San Antonio. So, we could live anywhere from norther SA all the way east to New Braunfuls (sp?)

I'm not familiar with that part we usu stay way over on the far west side although we drive through that area. However the west side would likely be waaay too far of a drive for him. Looking at the map though, from what I can tell, I would say to look north of I-35 (not sure if that's still San Antonio proper or not). It appears Schertz might still be a bit in the metro area which is going to have more congestion, closer housing, less "beauty" in the area.   I would also be inclinced to go to New Braunfels area if that's not too far a drive for him.

Now, this is my opinion just from traveling to the area, not actually living there so take it with a grain of salt but hope that helps a little.

Praying with much empathy. It's hard to be the spouse stuck at home with all the get-ready-to-move duties on top of your full daily schedule.

During times of separation and move prep, I find it consoling to ask for the prayers of St. Joseph and the Blessed Mother, who had to move to a place they did not want to live in, with no time to plan or prepare, then do it all over again - with a baby/toddler boy in tow. Their understanding is an enormous comfort to me.

Will keep you in prayer, Jenn. Also, we live in SA and I have at varying times been active in both of the major SA area Catholic homeschool groups. A friend of mine started a conference here a few years ago and that is in April, if you are here by then. Maureen Wittman will be speaking! I'm hoping to make it. There is also a very active New Braunfels area Catholic HS group. PM me for more info, if you'd like! ( We are in the Sea World area)

Praying for your family. Moving to TX was not easy for me, but I am now happy here, and it has been a great place to be a Catholic HS. I hope you find much joy.

One positive is that there are absolutely no HS regulations whatsoever!

Praying! May this time of separation be brief, and may the transition be as painless as possible. May your new adventures be blessed!

Jenn,
I am mostly a lurker on these boards but wanted to reach out with some encouragement. My in-laws live in that part of San Antonio (we are near Austin, just 1.5 hour north). It has grown explosively in the last 10 years! There are parts that are strip mall after strip mall, but there are also parts that have beautiful cliffs with views and greenbelts. Groene is a cute town not far from New Braunfels, which is itself a nice little place. If you look a little to the west, the Stone Oak area of SA is a little ritzier and has lots happening these days.

St Padre Pio is a very homeschool friendly parish on the northeast side of town -- the liturgy and building are modern, but from our sporadic attendance during visits the preaching and teaching seem solid.

What part of NC are you moving from, and what kind of neighborhood are you looking for? I am happy to help or answer any questions I can. We moved last year to Minnesota for a job, but, uh, it didn't take... I understand the pain and stress of wrenching yourself away from the place where you've built a life.

I will add your family to my prayer intentions this Lent!
