Jenn, our family knows only too well the difficulties of waiting and dealing with the unknown such as you are facing right now. When dh needed quadruple bypass for severe blockages (80, 90 and 100%), surgery had to be delayed several weeks because his father lay dying. At first I worried myself sick, especially since dh also continued to work at his stressful job in the midst of that time. Waiting and uncertainly can weigh heavily, especially if we lean too much on our own understanding or our own human efforts. Place yourself and your dear family WITHIN the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary ~ two Hearts pierced for our sakes ~ two Hearts that truly understand the depths of all human anguish ~ two Hearts united to all those who suffer and place their Trust in the Lord. A concordance is such a source of consolation at such a time as this for seeking out verses pertaining to the heart. May you be blessed with absolute peace of heart, mind and soul in the days ahead. Praying for all the intentions you hold dear in your heart!

I'm sorry you're going through this. I know it's so hard to just make it through the day even when you feel like you do. Praying for absolute grace and wisdom for your entire medical team; peace with the long term outcome and decisions to be made for your health, and the grace to just homeschool in the best way during this season God has allowed to be part of your lives.... praying you can take time to enjoy the little things with your boys, and rejuvenate your heart and soul during this waiting time. I know how hard waiting times can be, and unnerving as well....it's during those times I try to take little breaks with the family *just to be*, take breaks with Our Lord to relax in His presences and accept where we're at at that moment; and enjoy little treats or special moments that uplift the soul, and then resigning myself to whatever God wills at that time. Jenn,how I wish I were closer to you and could help you now! But my prayers are ascending on behalf of you and your family!
I wanted to post on your question about activities for the children--but not more activities. I wanted to tell you to be gentle with yourself and not to worry if you can't "school" for a season. There have been many times over the years that I couldn't "do school" with my children, sometimes for months on end. However, they all continued to learn. It baffles me, but I do think they get bored and start just reading and thinking on their own during these times when mom can't organize everything. It will be OK!! Really!!!
The first priority is your health; they have a lot of years to work on learning and if they fall behind a bit while you are addressing necessary health challenges, they will catch up. You have a rich environment in your home with lots of books--and that is all they need.

Thank you, all. I need those words of encouragement.
Caroline, I am not being too hard on myself, and we are being more organic in learning, so I can collect my thoughts and plans a bit better before we jump in officially. But I thank you for that. I have been given some gifts of seeing how they are learning right now, and I'm very pleased. It's not how I would want to do it, but for now, it's our path.
