Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Marilyn--can you please post your quick rolls recipe that you listed with the sloppy joes?

I found these 30 minute rollslast night and tried them with our sloppy joes and they got rave reviews. It might have taken a bit over 30 minutes, but I wasn't really paying attention. I just flattened the balls on a cookie sheet before rising and got 13 buns.

I use this recipe from Jamie Cooks it Up and they always turn out wonderful. They are great for last minute guests and in double quantities too. I use them for elegant dinner (smaller rolls) for burger buns when grilling out, and for large groups of teenagers for sloppy joes, bbq chicken or chili.

She also has a wholewheat version here

And whilst you are there - enjoy Jamie's site. When my dd did her grade 12 home economics last year - this was one of her favorite resources for meal planning and recipes, and she introduced me to the rolls.

Thanks for the Jamie website, Marilyn. It looks great! Her monthly plans look really good also!

Ok this qualifies as a fall meal because I'm going to cook a spaghetti squash with it.

I did a pork roast the other night (with fried zucchini and mashed potatoes) and tonight I'm going to use the leftover roast to make a hash with potatoes and onion and have a baked spaghetti squash as the side. We enjoy it just seperated into strands and served with butter as a side.

I am at a loss for menus AGAIN this fall because the same thing happens to me every Fall: the rest of the country is getting nice and cool and here I am in the middle of hurricane season, not able to stock up the freezer and hot as all blazes!

SOOOOOO I am trying to make a full month menu that can not heat up the house too much. The family is bored of the summer salads and sandwiches.

This is what I need if you guys can help:

Are there any meals that you would not necessarily consider "Fall" but can do year round. No stews, soups or lentils. Links would be great!

TIA!

Well, I have one of the big electric roasters.. and I set it on the patio.. and I can cook roasts or baked potatoes (we do a baked potato bar.. using up leftovers as well as planning toppings) or a pot of beans (I cook pinto beans and while we serve them as a bowl of beans with toppings.. I make enough to also do burritos or have beans in a chili or other soup/stew etc).

I can bake casseroles in it, lasagna or enchiladas or really anything you'd bake.. it doesn't brown on the top really but you can toss something in the regular oven to broil it a minute to brown the top.

It means I get the heat out of the house and still get some of the less exclusively cold weather meals that are less of a summer meal.
