I saw this idea on Pinterest for Chore Baskets that I thought I'd like to try to this purpose.

I like that idea, Lindsay.
I just don't know where I would store the baskets.

I am not a great housekeeper overall, which is probably why I'm also not a good trainer of my children in this area. Too many other things intervene in our day, and I'm a genius at time-wasting. At the same time, though, I like having a clean house. I like order. I hate for things to be out of control, as they so often are, mostly through my own sloth. So, what to do? |

SallyT, how I wish we were neighbors!! This is exactly me . My current method is extreme decluttering. We may be moving, so I have boxed up all books except those needed in the near future. The girls rooms have been packed except for clothing and 1 or 2 stuffed animals. I have reduced their clothing dramatically. After all girls, I had too many hand me downs and now that they're older the sizing doesn't go down as equally as it use to. So I ended up with too many sitting around for too long.
This has been interesting and I think when I unpack I'll clear out again. They play with ANYTHING. Laundry baskets and pillows were made into cribs for the 3 and 5 yo's as well as tables. My girls have always had fewer toys than most, but I think it could be even less.
Quite frankly, I never get to much deep cleaning because I feel like I'm always on clutter patrol. It's been taking way too much of my time. So I hope by continuing this extreme decluttering (borderline minimalism) I can focus on cleaning/picking up less and more on the important things (homeschooling/fun/personal projects).

I really like this idea! I've given my kids their own cleaning supplies in a basket before but they eventually get mixed up with the other cleaning supplies. I could see distributing these at chore time or having an older child distribute them. Even if I have to leave the house I know everyone will know what they are supposed to do AND have the necessary tools.

Me neither
I was trying to find an affordable solution, and instead, I came across this spendy one, but it does look like it would be ideal if you could lay the bottles of cleaner down since they would stcak and really reduce the space they take.

A crafty option might be fanric buckets like these with a small handle added in back to jang from pegs or hooks and longer side handles for easy toting.

I sorta figure that part of being big enough to do the job and use the equipment is being able to get it from it's location and put it away again.
I also would have nowhere to put totes for different kids/jobs. Unless you consider hanging them from the ceiling and ducking around
