Thank you so very much for ALL your prayers, dear friends!!!! The adoption went very well, and was completed yesterday!  They don't normally get it all done in one day, but the judge consented to do so, and we are soooo grateful!
The judge was very thorough(the hearing lasted 4-6 times longer than usual), more than usual, and seemed somewhat harsh and unkind at first, during the portion of the hearing to terminate the alleged rights of the biological father. But I understood WHY he was doing so; to make sure that no stone was left unturned, to prevent anyone being able to come back and undo things or say things were not followed properly, etc. In spite of how difficult it was to be grilled as I was, on the stand(I've never testified in court, so that made me a bit nervous!), I found it comforting knowing it was for the best. Our lawyer was very surprised by how hard the judge grilled me, but he said I did great, especially because it was completely unexpected. And the judge also said I did very well, and said he found me to be very obviously honest, thorough, and credible as a witness. When the judge finally said this, it gave me a sigh of relief, as before that I wasn't sure how he thought I was doing, and how he was taking my testimony.
The biological father did not show, for which we were all very grateful, as he is unafraid to lie, and would have made it very hard for me.
I truly felt your prayers yesterday! If it hadn't been for your prayers, I don't know how I would have made it through, as I felt like a nervous wreck inside, which I am typically a pretty laid back person.
To top off the blessings of the day, there was a beautiful little Catholic church only 1/2 a block from the court house in this small town, with the most beautiful stained-glass windows of saints I've never seen on stained-glass windows, and they were having all day adoration until about an hr. after we got done in court and we got to go over and pray in thanksgiving!

Hanging on to your every word and now crying with happiness for you. Pilgrim, stepping into the legal world just a little with our own adoption journey, I am so proud of you and so happy for you!!! I have envisioned the courtroom scene just as you described so many times in my head. Just going for the hearing for guardianship was so very nerve-wracking for us and it was nothing, nothing close to what you went through. I don't think we will have to get as far as a trial now, thank you, Jesus, but my heart and prayers were right with you knowing how hard it must have been!
You 'fighting' for your daughter is really a beautiful, powerful story! So, so, so happy for all of you!
