I saw those recipe cards at Target. I only bought the menu planner to post on my refrigerator and didn't give in to temptation to buy more of the recipe items.

At Costco I bought Deluxe Recipe Binders by New Seasons, published by Publications International. It includes 50 8x11 pages to print or to write, also splash guards, pocket dividers, decorative magnets, notepad. This is a 3 ring binder with some fancy designs and dividers for a cookbook. I couldn't find online links to give examples.

This is what I'm using for our family cookbooks. I can print out the recipes and put in the binder. Easy as pie. For $9.00 each, it was labor and cost saving to buy these rather than buying dividers and binders to decorate and make. There are various designs, kitchen oriented. Costco had these at Christmas time and I noticed yesterday ours had more in stock.

I was reading "Blueberries for Sal" by Robert McCloskey the past few days. My favorite picture is the one inside the cover, with Sal's mother canning the blueberries and Sal on a chair "helping." It's such a loving and warm scene, so domestic with the old-fashioned wood stove.

That's what I strive for...even if my "Sal" doesn't exactly help at this stage, he at least feels like he's a part of the process...even if it only means contributing to the mess.
