OK, so who's going? Can we register as a group and save $$? I'm getting ready to register, but if I can save a few bucks by registering together with a few ladies, that works for me! 
If not, I'm still going  !
I have to say, I learned SO MUCH last year when I took the time and cost to attend the Ambleside conference. I wished I'd done it years ago. It's easy for us as homeschoolers to put our own "professional training" on the back burner, but it does pay BIG dividends.

By the way, where was the Ambleside conference? That sounds interesting!

The Ambleside conference was in Denver and lasted 5 days. There is also a three-day internship that is held in Herndon, VA. It's pricey though-$800 not including lodging and dinners (that was for the longer conference in Denver). So, that is prohibitive for a lot of people. Nevertheless, I learned so much and I think I'll probably save about that much in failed curriculum purchases (that is, stuff I buy and don't use because I'm not fitting it all into a big picture). I could send you more info if you like, or scroll down on my blog where I wrote several posts on what I learned. I think the three day program was more like $450???? Mind like a steel sieve  !
All we need is one more participant to save a few bucks!

I got lots of sweet gifts over the weekend but I have to admit my dh sent me a text Saturday night that was probably the best. "Time off approved...Happy B-day...start planning ur trip"
So here's my dilemna: I've been trying to plan the last few days and I'm ready to hit the keys and commit to plane tickets (purchase with our airmiles), room in D.C. (going there afterwards with 9 yo dd) and registration for the conference. But I can't figure out how to inexpensively get from Greensboro(our miles only let me fly to this airport not the Roanoke one) to Ferrum. I would really like to avoid renting a car as our trip does have a budget.
Anyone in NC have suggestions for a cheaper way to get to Ferrum VA? I can't figure out public transportation in the areas and I'm getting a little dizzy trying.
Last question: Did you gals already put in for a group rate? I'm planning on traveling the 11th to make the immersion group session.
Extremely excited, can't wait to meet you all

I am so excited for you!
For transportation I would contact Caroll/CM Institue and ask if they are having any shuttles from Greensboro to Ferrum. When the conference was held in Boiling Springs they always had volenteers pick people up from the air port. Carroll is very concience of keeping costs down to make the conference affordable.
I also might be able to help you out. I want to get the group rate with ya'll but my dh just started a new job and tons of things have been in the air. I have a few possible drivings routes that I can take from Raleigh, but one of the high way routes goes through Greensboro!

We can make up our own group name and enter it where it asks for the group name on the registration form. Unless anyone objects, I suggest we just use "4Real" as our group name. Does that work for everyone? Do we have at least three?

I registered yesterday but I'm sure I can send an email letting them know we hadn't decided on our group name yet or it's procedures. I wanted to make sure to get one of the 25 spots for the Wednesday class and had already committed to my air travel

I registered using the 4Real name for my group. I'm going to the Wednesday Multi-Age Homeschool Immersion workshop, so I guess I'll see you there, Jenny !
If you can get them to assign you to the 4Real group, then we already have two of us in the group, and one more will make three!
