Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

One of my favorite clothes sites is Shabby Apple! They have some fantastic shopping tools that help in shopping for a particular style that flatters a given particular shape - shop by body type. It has great basic advice that translates to any type of dressing so you can go through the body type quiz and take some of that shopping with you.

Pics. Hmmmmmm....I'll see what I can do.

Well I thought I'd share that I felt a bit dumb taking that quiz for body type.. especially when I couldn't get it to give me my pre-overweight type of figure (seriously, I told it I had an hourglass figure and it told me I had a pear shape ) I found it much more helpful to scroll to the bottom of the list on the left and just see what they said for each type.. after seeing what they said and then looking up images of the person they said was which type.. I'm almost sure that the test didn't come up with the right type (no they don't have a chubby hourglass type )

Well I think I'm an apple, like the clothes lots anyway. Was just chatting to my dd who has just completed a clothing course, and they talked lots about personality types more so than shapes. Apparently we fall into 5 categories, though you can cross over and that all makes a difference too as to what you look at.

I like the clothes, but I struggled with the body type, too. I'm not sure what I am...I know what I was before children, but I think I've lost my waist, but I'm not really an apple.

It was the second question which gave me problems. None of those listed are my strong body points.

I know that medically I'd be called an apple shape.. but I think the "womanly" category fit me better.. I still have a bit of a waist but I'm rounder and "fuller" but still have some curves.

I recently found this sweater at Kohls. I have really hit and miss luck at Kohls, but this is a nice quality and drape, and the black in the store is more solid black than the pictures.

Oh, that's nice! I love cardigans.

Right now I'm looking for more tunics/shorter dresses to wear with leggings. I have a couple of pairs of shapewear leggings that I bought a year or so ago (Sweet Nothings by Maidenform), which I've worn a lot under things, instead of tights with boots. Now that leggings are "back," I'd like to expand what I have to go with them.

Re body shape, I'm a pretty definite pear, with a bit of a stomach to camouflage, especially when I'm eating cheap and not grain-free. (why I love wearing my Sweet Nothings leggings under things!) A-line skirts and dresses, and gored skirts, really work for me. I have a sort of gored paneled skirt from the thrift shop that I wear all the time -- very casual, sort of a faded sage green, works well with sandals in summer, boots in winter -- and get compliments, so I wish I could fill my closet with skirts JUST LIKE THAT for every occasion! It's when I have to branch out from my tried-and-true items, or when they wear out, that I start to stress.

Zulily has a some shorter dresses?? And, for winter....many of these would be totally cute with a short cardigan over it. With a scarf wrapped around neck?? With boots. Super cute!

So, I guess you can't SEE the actual sales/events at Zulily unless you have an account with them.   So, if you want to see....create an account here.

Right, to get a feel for what they sell, you can see, but I don't think you can see "everything" or specifics.

OK so I found a scarf to wear with my outfit today.. it's been snowy..

someone forgot to mention that if I put on a scarf all the girls have to go hunt up ones for them to wear too

We have lots of winter scarves so I hadn't tried it before when I didn't' have the lightweight pretty scarves.

I'll get my daughter to take some pictures and see how I did, giving the weirdness of the weather (my pants are tucking into the boots even though they're not "skinny" because i don't want to be dragging the edges of my jeans in snow/mud/puddles whatever)

Bumping this thread since I am post-partum and trying to refresh my wardrobe for Fall.

This blog post about How Pinterest Can Help You Get More Out of Your Closet is fun.

Granted, I don't have quite so many interesting pieces already in my closet, but it occurred to me her method would help with shopping, too, when you need to narrow down what accessories to look for either while shopping or thrifting. Like, I need the perfect red cardigan/scarf or a wide belt, etc... to help make the best use of what you have.
