Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I see, so you want blinds so you can have privacy *without* blocking the light? (My roller shades block light well when closed, imo).

What I have now is filtered light when the shades are down. I get southwest sun, so it's too blinding bright to leave up when I'm cooking dinner, but I still want natural light. The roller blinds would completely block everything and I would need to use the kitchen lights and that seems a waste.

Ideally I like blinds because I can filter the light and still see out onto my yard. That's why I mentioned it before. The honeycomb filter the light, but block my view. Not seeing the hummingbirds and American Goldfinches while I'm cooking and cleaning would make me sad.

I've seen cornices done in modern rooms. I think if you pick a "fresh" fabric, it won't look dated (now, it might in a few years, but then you can recover, lol).

Yes, that's what I was thinking. My living room/dining room has some beautiful silk fabric on the cornices I'm probably keeping.

Isn't this pretty with the solid fabric and decorative trim?

So is this

Here is edging with a print.

And I think this geometric print cornice looks classy, too.

Those are gorgeous! My cornice boards are straight edged in the kitchen and family room, but the solid color with the trim is so attractive.

Lindsay, you are so the GO-TO girl for visual inspiration on home decorating! Wow!

Must. Go. Be. Productive. I do love living vicariously through your search for window treatments

BUT, for a flat edge, I think I've seen the trim edging done in a Greek key pattern. I'll see if I can find a picture.
