Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please excuse my inconsistent posts. My grandfather passed away early Monday morning.

Jennifer, I am sorry for your loss.
I hope you and your family are together and managing.

Thank you for continuing to post the links. They have been very helpful to me.

I'll have to get back to the 33 Days to Morning Glory book. I left off with some beautiful passages from Mother Teresa opening her heart to her sisters. She prays so beautifully and honestly.

I thought Mother Teresa's letter to her sisters on "I Thirst" reminded me of the book My Ideal. (I refer to this book often.) In My Ideal, one of the most important aspects of being fully devoted to the Blessed Virgin is to reserve time to have a conversation with Jesus every day.

Mother Teresa is a wonderful teacher and example.

Okay. I am back home, and will try to get back in the swing of things here...

Here is Day 22 for Friday.

Day 23 for Saturday.

Day 24 for yesterday.

And Day 25 for today.

Anyone having any interesting experiences or thoughts related to our reading?

Helen- Thank you for your kind words. I was very, very close to my Pop-Pop. I don't know what I'm going to do without him...

I'm reading 33 Days, too, and I've also really enjoyed Mother Teresa's writings. She's so down-to-earth.

Has anyone here ever had cold feet when preparing for their consecration?

I'm going through a bit of this right now. I can't tell if my fears are legitimate or if they're being whispered in my ear by a jealous Satan. Or maybe I'm just emotionally exhausted?

This process is real, right? And endorsed by the Church? Will Satan lash out and do harm to me or those I love in retaliation?

Someone help! Please!!!!

Hi Jennifer
I can't thank you enough for your commitment to getting us through the 33 days. Even through family hardship you are still here posting and asking questions. Personally, I am very impressed. I have to believe that our very kind, thoughtful and dedicated Heavenly Mother must be very moved by the strenghth of your desire to practice total Consecration.

I have found Mother Teresa's chart on page 80 of 33 Days to Morning Glory an exceptional tool for meditation. For example, I really want number 6.

Mary's Duty: Responsibility for all that befalls me.
Then I have to practice...
My Duty:accept all as coming from her.

Is there something on the chart that deeply touches your heart? Is there something that you want to live your whole life with? Is there something you can't live without?

Having one focused, thought might help to overcome the jitters. Let me know!

Here's Day 27.

I'm thinking on the Mother Teresa chart... It's hard for me to focus on the benefits to me. I feel like I owe everything to God, and I don't have any right to expect anything in return. OTOH, I *know* He wants to do for me. It's just hard for me to accept sometimes. Mulling this over...

Thank you for your kind help, Helen. It really means a lot to me to have someone to talk this stuff out with.

I'm sorry to hear of grandfather dying Jennifer, I think it's fair to say that you have had a lot to deal with emotionally through your preparation, with the loss of someone so special.

You often read where a man about to take his final vows for the priesthood (and even nuns too) and they have a flurry of doubts that can rob the normal peace...so I wonder if this is something similar in the sense it is a spiritual commitment? Not on the same scale as religious vows but a commitment none the less.

I found this quote online today:

Quote:
St. Louis's major work, the Treatise on True Devotion, was hidden away and not found until 1842, when it providentially began to contribute to the resurgence of Marian ideas that took place from 1830 onwards. His work has been approved by a number of Popes, and he was finally canonised in 1947, thus indicating that the Church has found nothing objectionable in his ideas on the total consecration to Mary.

Pope John Paul II's consecration was very publicly known and his papacy and spirituality was built solidly on the foundation of this consecration.

This also might be helpful reading, an article by Jayson M Brunelle, titled Theology of Consecration.

I believe that the closer we are to Our Lady, Satan has less power over our lives. I remember reading in the book, An Exorcist Tells His Story, when Father was being threatened in the night by the devil, during a series of beneficial exorcisms for someone, Father would retort that he couldn't be harmed, he had placed himself under the mantle of Our Lady....the devil knew that, it was a threat he knew he could not follow through on and Father had spoken truthfully why he was powerless to act on his threats. I liked Father's confident answer, as the devil was trying to incite fear..fear that could make him falter in his duties as an exorcist.

I'll remember you in my daily rosary Jennifer, praying for the concerns and worries on your heart at present and for God's Will in everything for you.

Thank you Jennifer for leading us through these 33 days.

At Mass I had very fond and vivid memories of saying these prayers for the first time. I think sharing these days with you helped Our Lady spark my memory.

How did your day go?

I am very appreciative of all who joined in this summer. Thank you for keeping me on track.

I hope Jennifer and Helen your consecrations was filled with much blessing and consolation for you both. For anyone else who may have also joined in quietly, I ask God for the same blessing for you also.

I have delayed my consecration until the 22nd (this coming Wednesday) as our parish is starting Perpetual Adoration on this day, the feast of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Earth. I would like to go to our church and make my renewal of consecration in front of Our Lord in this special way. I believe that it will be the side altar of Our Lady, where Perpetual Adoration will be established, so I feel this is the place for my renewal. This will always be a very special feast for our church from this day on, it will always remind me of this special renewal as well.

Thank you for the grace of this renewal, I am grateful for all the links and reminders shared, they have been a great help to me as well.

We had an awesome day on Wed and Thursday...so much that I stayed away from my computer.

Last weekend I was OOT for four days and each day my husband and I joined each other on the phone to finish our daily readings and prayers from 33 days to Morning Glory. It was wonderful!! (esp since he had the book and had to lead us!)

On wednesday we went to Mass in the evening with the children and after Mass our priest offered confession (even my 5 year old wanted to go to confession!--which was more like a visit in the secret box with our priest LOL   I heard him tell her to pray more.)

Then we prayed the prayer of consecration in front of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Icon. Our priest wanted to witness it with us. It was lovely. (toddler boy was cranky by 715 pm and whined in my arms...)

Then my husband had the next day off (yesterday) and we tackled some house work together. It's been such a good marriage bonding thing to do this again. It had been about two and a half years since we did this last and about 8 years since we did the daily prayers together.

Thanks for sharing your journey everyone!

So lovely Marcia!

I wanted to pop back and share one of today's latest articles on Catholic World News.

Bishop urges faithful to consecrate themselves to Our Lady

And btw we will have this next baby baptized on Our Lady of the Rosary. We've tried to have Marian feast days for the baptism of our kids. Two on the Assumption, one on the Queen of Angels, one at Easter Vigil (yes crazy!~) and one on the Divine Mercy sunday. Now to have an October baptism! Yeah.

Oh WOW Marcia, sounds like you have a good bishop there!

Great feasts, I can really relate there Marcia, we have been the same:

Immaculate Conception
Divine Mercy
All Saints
Our Lady's Birthday
Our Lady of Guadalupe
Candlemas

I remember with Michael, I turned up the presbytery, knowing I tend to go over and booked the baptism for OLofG..and Father said, "What? And you haven't had the baby yet?" He was born a couple of days later in the Eve of the Immaculate Conception..phew!
