Are the talks available yet, Mary? Just this week my husband casually mentioned, "do you think the boys might be interested in stamp collecting," and I would love to have this talk to throw his way so that maybe it is a hobby HE can figure out logistically since he showed the interest. Yk, much more effective than had *I* brought it up as something he might want to do with the boys

Unfortunately the stamp one wasn't recorded. It was a neat hands-on workshop. But I'm thinking we need to make a nice little thread on stamp collecting. Jen, Suzanne and I attended the workshop, got loads of info, and MaryM when she has recovered, might share her advice.
Bottom line, stamp collecting is to enjoy and comes alive when the child makes connections. It should not be about collecting valuable stamps.

My son began stamp collecting at the suggestion of my father, who has his own collection of many years. We've dropped off a bit, but we'll probably get back into it soon. When we started up it provided so many "unschooly" moments of learning and discussion, with my dad, my husband, or or sometimes myself, whoever was helping at the time. I'd love to contribute some of the resources/tips I've learned when you start that thread, Jenn!

Shucks!
Well, I would LOVE a thread on stamp collecting. There is an older thread I found, but it isn't long or detailed. I'm not even sure where to begin! Neither of us have ever had one.

I just bumped the older thread......we can keep going there, since Mary had some good links for beginning to learn about it.

I know I'm late to the wrap-up....but I've been swamped in sorting, packing and even...camping! Hence my delay....but better late than never, I suppose....
The conference was really, really great! Loved the speakers, the attendees, the location, meeting new friends, talking about Charlotte Mason and Classical education, and just ALL OF IT!
Jen and Jenn did SUCH a wonderful job! I so wish all of you could've been there to hear our wild-n-crazy-Jen/ns!
Jenn's liturgical year talk was REALLY fantastic....you could just SEE everyone with Ah-ha moments going off!!! I've read her talk before, but she keeps refining and it just keeps getting better and deeper. It's so wonderful that Jen's talent has entered the Western Zone. :)
And, Jen's talks were all so wonderfully received and completely full of totally USEFUL ideas! How SHOCKING, I know!
I felt like such a proud "sista" and chauffeur!
Thanks, Mary for a wonderful weekend and for lots of laughs....I'm STILL laughing.....I know....SHOCKING, yet again! But, seriously, this was an amazing line-up of LIVING EDUCATION talks. Totally worth attending for those of you who are at all close or even for those of you who are not!
I'm off for more preparation to "save western civilization" so pardon me if I must be brief........because REALLY, I could go on and on!

Will there be another conference like this next year? Considering our summer plans for 2013 already....
