Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, Gina- what a cross. And yet, the biopsy will give you the answer, the truth, and you will not be wondering or worrying about what the lump is any more.

The biopsy will only take a few minutes, and usually you will have preliminary report before you leave the office. The waiting can be the worst part.

I will be praying for a good report for you through the Divine Mercy novena starting on Friday. Jesus, I trust in you!

Thank you all.

Good news for DH...the surgeon knows what to do to fix him! 90% of his pain will go away with an outpatient surgery. I can't wait to have my healthy hubby back. Then I can worry about me.

Melinda, thank you for your words.

Please pray for DH and I to make the right decision about testing. I am feeling unsure about a mammogram since I have had two ultrasounds, and the radiologist doesn't really think my lump could be cancer. After all, I am young, have no family history, and breastfed 4 children over 70+ months. I should have a very low risk of breast cancer. I want to take care of myself, but I also like to take health naturally and avoid unnecessary things that may increase my risk. The biopsy may be the only part I consent to.

Praying for peace for you, Gina, and for guidance for you all and the doctors. Also praying for your husband's surgery to go well and for him to be healthy again quickly.

Gina,
I've been praying for you since you posted! This is no small cross either! I'm relieved that there seems to be some direction for your husband that will bring him relief and a return to health. Now, for you!!

I don't want to be pushy, but I did want to give some reasons for the mammogram. Regardless of what this "is" or "isn't", your doctors will want a baseline for future reference and now is the time. A few years ago I found a suspicious lump, was still breastfeeding, and "felt" pretty young. I underwent several ultrasounds, and when they were inconclusive, a mammogram was ordered. The lump was nothing of concern, but it's actually very important and helpful to have it recorded on that baseline mammogram for future exams. And, if it had been something, I wanted to be aggressive and pro-active in dealing with it.

I am with you on not wanting to over-react and jump through every.single.exhausting.medical.hoop, but this is one I'd jump through. I hope it was ok to share my experience with you. Know that I'm praying for you as you carry this cross! Keep us posted!

Jen, Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel still conflicted over this, and am definitely procrastinating calling the office about the appointment, so I can continue to think and pray about it. I am going to do something, just how much, I don't know.

As for my husband, he is having his surgery tomorrow! They scheduled it as soon as they could so he can begin recovering quicker and lessen the risk of the infection becoming even more severe. What a week!

Thank you all so much for your prayers.

I talked it over with hubby last night...he says we need an answer. So, I am going to go ahead with it. I have to schedule it still, so I will let you know when the appointment will be.

I am sorry for the anxiety you are going through. I had this a couple years ago to!

Went to a routine check up and was told I had a lump. I too had nursed 4 children, for a total of 7 years of breastfeeding, and had been in general good health. No family history of breast cancer.

I had quit nursing 2 years prior, so the Dr said no chance it was a mammary gland.

We when for a mammogram, which turned up nothing. Then we went for an ultrasound, which turned up nothing. Turns out it WAS a mammary gland, that between Dr. appt and Mammogram resolved, but it had been a lump for several months. You have only quit nursing a couple months, so it may still be nothing.

That said, the radiologist says he wished more people would come in BEFORE there was an issue to have that baseline.

I will be praying for you, that it's all resolved quickly and simply.

You are in my prayers. Even though it is hard to deal with, I would not put things off. I always feel better knowing than wondering. God bless you!

Thanks for asking. My husband is doing GREAT!

I had the biopsy yesterday, and the anticipation of it was worse than the actual procedure. I have been sore, but not horrible. Hopefully, tomorrow I will have results.

Glad to hear the procedure is not as bad as anticipated. Praying as you await results.

Well, I heard from the doctor yesterday. The lump is not "scary" like cancer, but it is something they are recommending I have removed. Now I wait for a visit with a surgeon, at which point I will find out more about the diagnosis, and how urgently we need to take action.

My sister and one sister-in-law have had lumpectomies. It did make them sore, but gave them piece of mind.

Glad that it is not the most feared diagnosis. Praying all goes well with further medical procedures.

It has been two weeks, and I have strange pain. It is like I have a plugged duct. I am going in to the radiologist again this afternoon to have it checked out.
