Honestly, I have everything I could possibly want and more. I am so blessed. This Christmas all I really want is a heifer. But will probably have to settle for a goat.

Jen,
A bit off topic but I made three garden beds out of cedar fencing planks and some cedar 1x2. I found the plans on ana-white.com. |

Oh!! Thanks, Susan! I'm immersed in kitchen garden/potager books right now - many with just lovely plans in them! I can't wait to get over to that site you recommend! And, I'd love to hear more about your cedar boxes!
Jenn - We're planning on building about 3 (but maybe 4 if I can flash my big blue eyes enough! ) 3' x 6' cedar boxes to start with, and have plans to expand the garden more in the future. We garden in a mishmash way - I love lasagna gardening, and what we do is a combo of square foot/kitchen potager/lasagna gardening, but I hope that our little gardens will be more of a kitchen garden not unlike the lovely French kitchen potagers. I've got runners from my brother's raspberry bushes and blackberry bushes and grabbed leek heads that have gone to seed while I was at Mom's. And I have dreams of a fig tree, peach trees and other berry bushes surrounding our little kitchen potager. And flowers. Always flowers!
Lots of plans for now - we need to find an affordable source for our cedar first. We had planned to do much of this earlier this year (early winter/spring) but it wasn't God's timing so we're really hoping to get rolling this fall and winter with the beginnings and hope to get a little kitchen potager in by this spring.
Maybe we should start a seasonal garden planning thread?

I'd love some new clothes. And a pair of these pretty rose earrings from Etsy.
Of course, my desire for new clothes could stem from the fact that I've been wearing the same maternity clothes for a few months now...hopefully only for a week longer!

Loved that show!!! Wish I could somehow phoneticize that special bionic sound....remember it? Everytime he jumped or lifted something? Remember watching that with the Bionic Woman??

Are you kidding?! I still make that sound as I pretend to run in slo-mo across the house...the kids look at me weird but I have to have fun somehow!
Christmas...for me?
Really? I forgot about that. I usually don't get the luxury of thinking of myself. My wish is that the kids are happy and healthy and we plan yummy foods and heartwarming moments. We are planning on a hand-made Christmas and of course...some more books!

I have found something lovely I would like for Christmas, something different, yet lovely:
It says: "Taken from the medieval carvings C. 1450 found upon the Misericords within the choir stalls of Cartmel Priory. This carving known as Pelican in its Piety shows a large bird from the Pelicanidae family, this being certain birds with pouches under the beak. An explanation of this carving is that it is an early Christian symbol originating in the Middle East. It usually depicts a female Pelican on her nest, with wings half spread and chicks waiting at her feet with open beaks. She is plucking her breast and allowing the drops of blood to fall into the mouths of the chicks, thus symbolising Christ feeding his flock with his blood. This reproduction is taken directly from the original capturing all the fine detail applied by the craftsmen that carved this piece over 500 years ago. Comes with a wall fixing and product label."
I found this company's site on ebay, calling themselves Medieval Cathedral Carvings and then they have their own website called Oak Apple Designs.
Edit to add: I did a search on Cartmel Cathedral and found the carving in the Cathedral itself, very interesting.

Annie, reminds me of the pelican that graced the pulpit in our parish church when I was growing up. I always wondered what it meant and thought it was very unusual until I finally learned the signifcance of the pelican in church imagery while homeschooling ~ amazing!

I want a new pair of nice, soft, comfy, delicious pajamas.
I was never much of a jammmie/nightgown-person...always just wore sweats or old clothes that were too worn to wear everyday. But, I got a nursing nightgown with the last baby and a nice nightgown during my last pregnancy and just LOVE having nice, pretty jammies!

I found a used copy of Beatrice's Goat to read with the children. They are going to select gifts from the Heifer catalog for each grandparent this year. Some of them might have to be "shares of ..." due to our budget of course, but I can't think of a better Christmas gift.

This year I am hoping for a new coffee maker, mine is many years old and on its last legs.
I would also love one of those rechargable Coleman lanterns. Very handy for power outages and camping.

Those are so pretty!!
I would really like a nice statue of Mary, maybe Our Lady or Grace, one that is big enough to use for a family May crowning. Maybe I should start another thread for suggestions of what to get.

Dh and I do the same here...but we vary between Steve Austin or Chariot's of Fire Theme Song (please disregard smoking man.) Our boys think we are nuts!
For Christmas, I would like to have my mom's chain repaired so I can wear my grandma's Our Lady of Mt. Carmel medal. And dvd of any season of "I Love Lucy." My all-time favorite tv show.
In Christ,
