Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Michelle, you are one brave, amazing woman! God bless you and your precious boy!

Your bud vases and roses sound just lovely! Anything close to magenta would be my favorite! The scent of roses is so pleasant ~ I've lost every one we've ever planted.

The tales of your life on the farm are incredible! My family loves ot tease me about how ridiculous I looked when I ran to the point where I was almost flying away from a chicken that bolted out of the henhouse when we were "ckicken-sitting" ~ then I wonder why dh and dc all say "NO chickens"! They KNOW I'd ckicken out on taking care of them! I can't even imagine the other livestock issues you described! Pretty awesome for a "city girl"!

Well, last break for the night. My eyes are blurry from typing LP and trying to cram too much into a single day! Thank you dear ladies for the virtual tea and sweets! It was such a welcome treat!!!!

Amy, thank you for the invite, I'd love a biscuit Then I'll have to sit on my new rowing machine that dh just surprised me with and do a few extra strokes. I'm up to 150 rows a day, would you believe dh thinks I could get up to 1000! Mind you the tum muscles are responding

Michelle, you are very impressive

Are you sure? Thanks I'll have a second biscuit.

Today's offering is cream cheese brownies. Is there an Aussie/UK equivalent name for brownies?

I'd love a cyber bud vase, Michelle - I'll put a fake flower in it because I'll kill anything else. Praying for your farm needs!

Taking a break from cleaning (yawn) and listening to Hoarders while I type. Makes me want to clean more and makes me worried for myself when I see my storage room.

Anyone have an extra cot that I can nap on while we chat?

Amy, this is a great thread! Thanks for starting it.

Over here in the UK, they call them brownies, but they are definitely considered an American dish. Every time I go to a gathering where I have to bring food, I am always asked for brownies.

Michelle, your bud vases sound lovely. I would have to request yellow roses since I am from Texas.

I have partially started school. I never like to plunge in with full days to begin the year. And it is still summer break until after Memorial Day. And we are going to WYD next week, so it was much easier to do a little of this, a little of that.

We are renovating our large bathroom. Most older homes only have one large bath, but fortunately, we have a half bath as well. So it remains untouched while we redo the main bathroom. We have been planning since January/February, but construction/demolition did not start until April.

My dh has rigged up a temporary shower until he tiles up the wet room. He plans on us ladies helping him to cut and place the tile. It is a slow process, but I know it will look lovely once it is done. He is a bit of a perfectionist himself.

It is about dinnertime here, but before we eat we are headed to ballroom dance lessons. I am excited about it. Hopefully, I won't have two left feet!

Now this sounds like FUN. I learned a little bit in college. And of course it's not like it's a skill I'd use anywhere around here.. but I sure enjoyed the little bit I've done. Try to teach my kids a bit too.. now that's fun.. dancing with the kids in our small living room.

Oh, I have all those colors! And Amy, you can have this pretty pale blue one with a tall neck that will only hold a single bud. I am going to go ahead and give you a real rose bud, because this is just tea and the flower doesn't have to last forever. Besides, you can't kill cut flowers, they are already on their way out..

You ladies are so funny. I am the least heroic person imaginable. You ladies are the true heroes. I can't imagine how you all do it. Painting projects! Organizing! Family health and relationships! I think that God made women to be tough and delicate at the same time. And we are. We are feminine and tougher than even *we* think we are. I have been on this board for 6 years and I have prayed many of you through all kinds of heartache. And yet, we still wake up every day and try to intentionally fill that day with love and memories. I am thankful for you all.

Pass a brownie, please.

Oh Carol! Post back and let us know how it went! I can't wait to hear!

And I happen to have a couple of yellow bud vases. You can have one. I think I might claim the other as yellow is my favorite color.

Michelle you reminded me of a quote I really like...

Quote:
Real feminine nature isn't weak or fawning. It isn't about wearing frilly dresses or reading romance novels. Real femininity is strong, confident, vibrant. But it is strong, confident and vibrant in a uniquely feminine way. - Mary Beth Bonacci

Our turn, Michelle! I don’t think many of us will ever forget your description of farm life and heels in the garden..and the way you so lovingly described your precious son, you have my prayers, dear Sister!! So glad you shared all that you did, and I think maybe you should work towards turning that farm into a retreat center for us! We could all come out and soak up the farm goodness AND your literature background!!!

Ugh. Are we all in the midst of painting projects????????? My kitchen is done and looks so lovely and cheery!!! A medium golden yellow....in a rich hue. It's very warm. Looks lovely with my big cranberry cabinet. Finished the master bathroom, too...in the most delightful Robin's Egg Blue! I just love it!!!! So much so, that the 1/2 bath attached to the kitchen will also be Robin's Egg Blue, and that's what we're working on now! Truthfully, we had 3/4 of a gallon left and paint is too expensive not to use!! But, I really do love the color!

Can you please come to our hosue and envision what colors we need to paint it? was that too whiny? If so, i apologize. We have such a lot of people who are doing such a lot of damage to the white doors, I suggested to my husband that we hand print the doors in all bright hues. The walls aren't very different, although they're a kind of dull peach color ... well, that is, those that aren't papered. I'm not very talented where color on walls is concerned.

We started two days ago. We're kind of hop-tripping. We usually go gung-ho at the beginning and then kind of peter out somewhere in April. We have no reason to hop-trip this week except that I haven't prepared well enough. I didn't plan as I normally do for each child. I thought some of the kids could segue into others' plans. But I really only started writing plans last year, so how could *that* work? I actually had to order some things this week, one of which is a planner (help! see my planner question on this forum). Where *is* my brain this year? Ugh! I know it will get better. It has to!

Pass the gluten-free brownies, please!

I hear ya Tina! Wish I could solve this problem around here too. When my kids get into trouble, I give them the job of "wall washer" or "door washer", but what I really need to do is paint.
