Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I used to be an unabashed Firefox fan, but I was having so much trouble with Firefox crashing or becoming unresponsive for me. It got so annoying, and pages loaded SO.SLOWLY.....that I decided to switch....to Google Chrome. And I can't believe how quickly it loads pages!!!!

I have used Netscape (a LONG time ago), IE, Safari, and Firefox. My hands down preference was Firefox because of the Add-ons and Extensions I could add to customize the browser to work the way I preferred, but it doesn't matter how customized or great it is if the PAGE WON'T LOAD!!!!! Google Chrome offers some great add-ons too, and its page loading speed is astounding. I'm still looking for an extension to help manage my tabs - I am an unabashed tab user!!!!!!!

Anyway, I started wondering....what browser do y'all use? And why? Speed? Stability? Features? Am I missing a better option out there?

IE 9, for no specific reason other than the fact that I've always used IE.

Don't really care for FF for some reason.

I use Firefox. My husband uses Chrome. He tried Chrome when it first came out and got frustrated because a lot of pages weren't "Chrome-friendly" yet, so he went back to Firefox for a time. But now that it has been in use for quite a while, he hasn't found that to be an issue anymore, so he switched back. The only reason I haven't switched to Chrome is that I use my Google toolbar heavily (bookmarks, etc.) and last I checked, there was no Google toolbar extension for Chrome (strange, but true--though that may not be the case anymore).

I use IE and it does have tabs which I really need/like too . I remember trying Firefox and switched back when IE added the tabs feature. Haven't tried anything else since.

I use Firefox. My techie dh uses Chrome. Lots more stuff is Chrome-friendly now. My kids use either Safari or Chrome.

IE 9 for e-mail (our system is linked to the college my husband teaches at) and Google Chrome for blogging. For browsing I use either one.

I switch back and forth between Firefox and Chrome. Can't decide which one I like better yet. Chrome does load faster than Firefox, but I also get many more pageload errors with Chrome, so I think it evens out overall.
I also prefer the way Firefox does tabs over the way Chrome does them, but Chrome does have a much cleaner look. Plus, there's Angry Birds.

Forgive my ignorance , does it matter if which one you use if you have a Mac vs. a PC?

No Betsy, the mac/PC thing shouldn't affect which browser you use, although Safari is developed specifically for macs (I think??), though I think PC users could use it...I'm really not sure on that one, but I'm pretty sure all the other browsers were developed independently and can be used with either operating system.

I have encountered one page load problem from Chrome so far, and that is annoying. However, I've found some extensions that are downright fantastic. For example, Google Quick Scroll! Be still my heart! Let's say you're searching for something, a particular term, that you know is likely to be buried within a huge database of information. With Firefox, I just searched within cached information so that my search terms were highlighted, which was fine, but involved scrolling and searching for the term. With Google Quick Scroll, I google search my terms and click through to a potential page and then in the bottom right side of my screen, a little window pops up that shows me all the times on that page that my search terms were used....and I can click on those selections and it jumps me right to that spot on the page (no more searching!!)....and there may be more than one times the search terms were used - they're all listed and linked there! Super helpful!!!!!!

Another difference I really like is that my little feedly icon now shows how many unread articles I have, sort of like email shows you how many new emails by a tiny little number on the email icon.

Like you guys, I'd like to find an extension to manage my Google chrome tabs better. I do think Firefox offers some great tools for that - and I make my tabs work for me!!!!!!!

I'm enjoying hearing some of your experiences with various browsers!

I use IE 9, love the tabs, and I add the Google Toolbar.

It must be my personality, but I don't like to switch software very often. So I've used IE all the time, and never even tried FF or Chrome. Google frustrates me at times because I lose my settings if I'm logged out...and it logs me out periodically. I can't stand "Google Instant" when I'm searching, as that really, really slows me down, but have to keep overriding that setting. Drives me crazy.

I keep on switching. Sometimes one is more up-to-date than the other, able to cope with the latest problems, viruses, ads, etc. When I notice my browser slowing down, I switch to the newest version of whatever's most up-to-date. Thankfully I have a brother and a son who are techies so I don't have to keep up. They just tell me, "Switch to Chrome" and I follow.    Right now I have Chrome, but my son just told me yesterday to switch back to Firefox. So I will, right after my close my 67 tabs.

We use IE.. from inertia..     that and dh uses it at work and finds it easier to not switch between the programs.

We use interner explorer and have done for years.
I don't think we will change.

dh uses it for his work client base, so ther would be no point in us using another system.

I have 88 tabs open right now. Dh (who works for a tech company) told me that he was in a meeting yesterday when someone said something bizarre like "no one uses more than 5 or 6 tabs at a time anyway." He said he thought about saying, "you've never met my wife," but decided to maintain my dignity for me by keeping quiet. What kind of nonsense is that? Tabs are for using!

Oh, and Firefox. But. Am getting interested in Chrome with all the testimonials above!

I just downloaded Google Chrome. This is big for me as I never make decisions like this without first consulting my dh or my more techie ds. But my blogger dashboard has not been working correctly for weeks now and today (with some new updates to blogger) I was informed again that my Internet Explorer was no longer supported. So checking back with this thread--which I read with great interest--I took the plunge.    What have I got to loose?

My son's techie friend was here and he gave me some advice before they left for work (where to find history). He also uses Chrome. Now off to explore the ins and outs of Chrome! And remember, I am no techie, I just want to be able to navigate the Internet with ease...
