Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is going to sound silly, but maybe use the crockpot in the garage? Then you won't have to smell it?

Just a thought.

I drank Slimfasts. I know, not perfect, but plenty of nutrients in there.

Kyra. I assure you. IT IS THE BABIES. You are exhausted because you are growing two people, and maintaining another. NOT EASY. I could not figure out why I was so incredibly exhausted for soooo looong with my boys. Since I didn't show earlier, or bigger, thanks to the weight loss, there was no other real "warning" other than really awful nausea and fatigue like nothing I've ever experienced before in my life. Seriously. I'd get up and do one thing an hour or so...a five minute thing. My three older children got very adept at doing dishes (we had no dishwasher), changing over laundry (they'd change it over, and fill the washer back up, I'd add soap and start it), etc. I had dh do the cooking. I could not stand the smell of food either. I know it is awful to simply put that on him...but maybe you can go to a friends house for a few hours on the weekends, adn have DH brown a bunch of ground meat, etc, do some of that prep work, so that the weeks are not so bad?

Hopefully, you will feel better soon. I was closing in on 20 wks (before then, but how long before I don't remember) before I started feeling "normal". I remember *making* myself fill out Christmas cards...which would have meant I was...let's see..13-14 wks...and really didn't get to feeling better til at least the middle/later January...so hopefully you will feel MUCH better soon. I got a ton of my energy back and could eat (which helped with the energy) and got a TON done between when I had my "Oh my goodness, there are two of them in there!" u/s at 21 wks, and when they were yanked (at 34 wks). Six weeks were spent on bedrest, so I had a good 6-7 wks of work before that...lol.

I think the worst part was actually having the energy at the end, NEEDING to do things, and not being able to.
THey wouldn't let me lift a gallon of milk at the end...it was that much fun.

Oh, if you have a Sam's Club near you, they have a wonderful Click and Pull shopping online that you can do (well, I know that they DID, I used it through my pregnancy and those first six months or so), where you can order most of the stuff on their website, they'll pull it for you, and you can just go to pick it up, pay, and walk out the door.

They moved me from the midwives directly to a MFM (maternal Fetal medicine) specialist. I didn't have any other "factors", than simply having the twins, btw...but I was in the military medical system, sooooo...

I've got a 7 passenger Odyssey. We had just traded in our old van for this one in June before I got pregnant in September. Figured we'd have a good 4-5 yrs before we'd need to even consider getting a larger vehicle. Nope. Twins. *at one point, they scared me and thought that there might be triplets...merciful heavens, I was so worried we'd need to trade in our just traded in for Odyssey!! Whew, though, we dodged that bullet. Our next family vehicle is going to have to be at least a 12 passenger van...for cargo and leg space, as much as anything else. And if I can have my wish list, with one of those rubberized floors, wipe off seats, working a/c, roof rack, and a tow package...ahhhhh. I highly recommend the dual side door style (do they make anything but those anymore? I don't even know), I found them to be a real lifesaver when putting two littles into the vehicle. The main thing will be the car seats/boosters for your older children. DEFINITELY take them with you and try to buckle them into the vehicles you consider. Also, consider which children you will have to help get into their seats, and where those car seats will have to be placed, since putting in twins and then reaching over them to buckle in someone else isn't easy...

HTH!

Rachel

My oldest can get himself into his carseat and do some of the buckles, which will be helpful. We live in Toronto, city of pretty good public transport, so we've never had a car. I'm somewhat worried about how we'll afford one, but with God's help we'll manage. Also, ugh, I'll have to get my licence, and my husband can't help me practice because he hasn't had his licemce long enough (for a full driver's licence in Ontario you have to do a written, after which you can drive with someone who's had a full licence for more than four years, a second road test, and then a final a couple of years later. Blah.)

The toddler is a toddler and quite a while away from being able to dress or entertain himself (he's 17 months now, and at the "I desire to play with stairs and broken glass" stage.)

My husband unfortunately can't cook beyond mac'n'cheese and frying eggs. We're going to work on that.

One nutrient dense thing I ate during my twin pregnancy was...Oh, I know this is going to sound weird, and dh thought it was weird, btut don't pregnant women eat weird things anyway?... I used to make a "salad" of a fried egg, a hamburger chopped up, and fresh spinach. I could actually stomach that all together, and there was lots of protein, iron, and vitamins in it. I kept frozen hamburgers in the freezer during that pregnancy, and it really helped to be able to pull one out and fry it up for extra nutrients during the day. String chees was another one I could stomach. Trail mixes were good. Egg burritos, I really enjoyed them. I scrambled up some eggs, threw them in a torilla, and had a quick easy, nutrient packed snack. I also had some brewers yeast on hand that added some good nutrients, I just mixed it into things like soups, mac n' cheese, etc. then towards the end of the pregnancy, I had trouble with foods again. I craved cookies during the twin preg. I know they're not good for you, but if that's all you can down, at least it's something, and I HAD to eat. Sometimes just eating one little cookie would settle my stomach, and then I could eat better food. HTH!

I couldn't handle eating anything strong smelling, so that made it fun and interesting (NOT!lol).

try cheeses, and nuts. They are both good for you and good for the babies. Dense protein, calcium etc. The 'better' the cheese, the better it is for you, but take what you can get/afford.

Also, try yogurt. It doesn't smell much at all, is cool (down here right now, anything cool feels good, since its been over 100 for evvverrrrr it feels like, lol)...and it is easy to stop eating.

Definitely work with DH on that cooking thing. He is going to want a homecooked meal, and honestly, its gonna be a while.

I nibbled on those Slimfast meal in a bar things. The chocolate ones. Those were gooood. LOL. Again, something easy to stop eating, doesn't smell strongly, and easy to eat/deal with.

Definitely get someone to run the little one ragged for you. Even better, use some of that energy "for good", like helping unload the dryer, help momma carry x, y, or z, etc. Anything to emphasize the "BIG BOY" aspect, and what a helper he is getting to be (which will hopefully help you out in fact, lol).

Honestly, the only thing I remember craving with my twins was sleep. LOL. And then, more sleep. And when I woke up...more sleep. LOL.
