I already responded, but I had another question. What is the common practice of sending these? Do you write on the postcard itself, or send it in an envelope? For those that have done it in the past, what did you do? |
|
|
In the past, all of our senders just sent us the card itself. Some wrote fun facts and trivia on the back, others left it blank. It's really up to you!

Yes, that's how we've done it in the past also. I am going to compile all the addresses tonight and pm them to everyone. Then, sometime in the next month or so you'll mail a postcard to everyone on the list. Each family will be mailing and receiving 15ish (depending on how many sign up by the end of the day today) postcards. Does that make sense?

Of course, Viviane!! I am sure we would all LOVE a post card from Hawaii! It was the exchange you organized a couple of years ago that inspired me to do this :)
Everyone- I'll pm you Viviane's address today to add to the list.

Another question, do we send more than one to each family in case they have several children collecting them or is this more a family collection?
Thanks!

How exciting!
Our family received our very first postcard from the Postcard Exchange today!
From the Shrine of the North American Martyrs, New York!
How about that?!?
It's so much fun getting mail AND learning at the same time

I forgot to put my return address on the postcards so I won't know if any were returned. I hope you all received my cards from KY!

We got yours last week, Lara! Thanks!
Thanks to those of you who have already sent your cards! We have enjoyed reading each of them. Those who have not had a chance to send them yet, there is still time! We look forward to receiving them!

JP and I are guilty of being late. Sorry! He so wants to pick out the postcards himself and we simply haven't gotten our acts together. We plan to purchase, write, and send by the end of this weekend. Thanks for your patience!
I also wanted to encourage everyone to share postcards stories. I have one!
The Sh. family sent us a postcard from McDade Park, Scranton, Pennsylvania. I grew up within walking distance from this park! Before it was McDade park, it was Keyser Park and McDade was a politician who got the funding for the upgrade. I have walked, hiked, played tennis, sledded, brought troubled kids, and celebrated church picnics there. How cool is that?! Small world .
Thanks all!
Love,

We're late, too. I had hopes to sit down with Gregory, but I'll dash them off myself tomorrow. Sorry!

We haven't sent ours yet either.
I need to go buy them and I want to try to get something that does not have inappropriate beach scenes on them.
They will be in mail next week.

We're late getting ours out, too -- just got back from taking our oldest to college and am trying to get my act together. But my 7- and 9yos are LOVING the postcards as they come in. We have a little section of wall in our study/schoolroom dedicated to a postcard collage.
We loved the Shrine of the North American Martyrs postcard -- it prompted us to start reading Saint Isaac and the Indians by Milton Lomask. I'd had it on the shelf for ages since my older son read it, but when the younger kids both looked blank when I asked them who St. Isaac Jogues was, I figured it was time to pull it out.

We sent ours 2 days ago. They should be arriving in the next day or two for most of you.
Although our postcard is not pretty, it may lead you on a rabbit trail of Land Runs in Oklahoma. We were somewhat limited with postcard choices, as our area is not really a tourist destination -- unless you like Oklahoma history.

Hi Maggie and Celeste,
It is too late to join this particular exchange... the list went out about a month ago so many have already sent their cards.
BUT... I have had at least one other person ask to join late so maybe one of you guys could organize another exchange between the three of you and anyone else who is interested.
