Saw my dr and was released from bedrest today. Dr said it's fine to go back to normal activities, but I do plan to take it easy and not do as much as I usually do. I have been so exhausted lately, so that + the fear should make it easier for me to rest more. He said that the bleed was small one and was near the end/edge of the placenta which is why it bled out. He wants to do an u/s around 26 weeks to check on that and the position of the placenta. Said he thinks it might be lying a little low right now but it should move up even so. I had the same concern (low placenta) with DD1 at my 19 week u/s, and at the 26 week re-check it was fine.
He also said this shouldn't affect (effect? I never remember which to use) having a homebirth so long as placenta and baby are healthy.

Yay!!
Sometimes I think if you went in for a stubbed toe and were pregnant they'd give you the same advice about bedrest and not lifting.
I rest a lot when I'm pregnant.. but what I try and do is have a central place to sit.. where I can put up my feet if needed.. and have something there that I can pick up and put down easily.. (I usually sit at the computer)
That way instead of working a long time and resting a long time.. I can work some and soon as I feel tired I can sit for a few minutes and then get up and do some more.. having a place that's easy to sit and rest for a few minutes.. keeps me from pushing on saying.. well I'll just get this done before I go and rest.. and ending up doing too much because I've tried to do too much all at once.. rather than spread it out a bit and resting periodically.

Lindsey, I am so glad to hear that baby is well. I have FAR too much experience with a subchorionic bleed. I've had multiple bleeds in various sizes and severity in quite a few of my pregnancies. Even the smallest can cause a lot of bleeding. A small one can be a big deal if it is still active. Fresh blood would indicate that it is still active. This is where taking it easy is helpful. Like any kind of wound, activity can aggravate it and slow healing. I definitely noticed increased bleeding with increased activity. (especially any activity of an 'intimate' nature.)
Brown blood is not terrible, it usually indicates old blood, or the bleed emptying out.
From my experience, I would advise you to take it easy, especially if you are tired, b/c for me, being extra tired was a sign that I was actively bleeding. (internally). Hopefully by the 26 week u/s there will be no sign of it.
Mine always cleared up by 20 weeks or so. (I did experience a loss b/c of this, but that was a MASSIVE clot.) I've experienced this in 6 pregnancies now, and 5 of those children are milling about the house now. (and all of them were born at home!)
