My internet was down for a couple of days. Goody! It is fun to talk about such a "lite" topic.
I first heard about the makeup through Sephora.com and then actually purchased my first kit throught my local Sephora store. But I know Ulta carries it as does www.qvc.com. It can be pricey, but I also heard of a great option. A company called Colorful Sprinkles (www. colorfulsprinkles.com?) sells samples so you can try different shades/products for a fraction of the price.
Anyway, I have always hated wearing face makeup because my skin is so fair and yet I have acne scars, broken blood vessels, hyper-pigmentation, freckling, dark circles, you know: all that fun jazz...so it has strange tones and redness that are hard to cover without looking fake. I have never been able to "match" my tone and get it to blend! So: I basically gave up until I found this stuff. I use 1.2 Fairly Light or 2.0 Light, but I can also wear the fairest color (although, it has pinker undertones and I need the yellower undertones of 1.2 an 2.0 )! Confused? I know....and it took me a while to get it to WORK for me. Despite having acne since I was 13, I have incredibly dry, sensitive skin...so I actually mix the powder with oil-free moisturizer and make a cream, and it is so natural and blends right in.
Victoria, I have the opposite problem! I need as much grease around my eyes as I can get. But have you thought of an eyeshadow primer? It's one more step but it supposedly eliminates creasing. There is one called L'oreal Wrinkle De-Crease that is available at most drugstores, I assume. I've also heard the best "inexpensive" eyeshadow is Revlon Colorstay, which again, you could get at Target. Right now, I am actually just using BE shadows when I "do" eye makeup because everything else makes my eyes water. I hate mascara. Thanks for the rec. for the Clean Tint!
I use the Bisque part of the kit as a really natural eyeshadow and the Warmth (with a huge brush) part as blush, actually. It's really natural. So... obviously I'm recommending it! Ha! Yes, I've seen all the mineral makeup advertised now. Maybe if I ever run out, I'll try the cheaper versions if they have similar ingredients since those seem to work for my skin. Every penny saved helps, obviously---I'm with you on that. But my birthday IS coming up......
Have a blessed weekend!

I have no experience with Bare Minerals or such, but saw an article in Friday's (July 7) Wall Street Journal that I thought I'd mention. Unfortunately the article is for paid subscribers only. It was called "Cosmetic Makers Turning to Stone" by Tatiana Boncompagni.
I didn't realize that Bare Escentuals is the same as Bare Minerals...so I was reading the article thinking it was a different brand! They did mention a few other brands:Jane Iredale and L'Oreal introduced Bare Naturale, powder foundation this year.
The interesting part of the article to me was a dermatologist explained that the minerals might be less irritable to skin because the particles are larger than the synthetic particles in regular cosmetics, so less likely to clog pores. But it's not a guarantee for no irritations. Some people will react, whether it's natural or not.
I use traditional makeup, but very little: lip gloss, blush, mascara, and coverup for blemishes. Recently I started adding some powder. Lately though, I get bad blemishes in my chin area. Really bad, and it seems to be from any kind of coverup or powder I'll have breakouts that day. So I'm tempted to try a different route...but then discouraged at this thread when you mention that it's dark, as I have VERY fair skin.

I'm a convert, too. Especially as you can now get it through Amazon (though I think it is Sephora you are buying from). Another good use for a gift certificate!
I just wanted to add that if you are very fair, the Light is actually quite dark. There are two lighter shades: Fairly Light and Fair. I can get away with the Fairly Light, but the Fair is better. You can mix the colour together, or add Mineral Veil to lighten if you want. I have never found a foundation before that is truly light enough for my "English Rose" complexion - that's a really nice way to say "looks like a corpse even in the heat of summer when everyone else on the planet has a tan".
You have to have the brushes; I think it's the key. I use the Flawless Face brush and the Conealer brush (can't remember the name?) for everything: foundation, blush, concealer, eyeshadow.
My dh hates me looking like I have lots of make-up on, but I hate being without it, so this has been great. No more awful photos of me with two-tone face/neck. Yuck!
For a natural look I second the Warmth as a blush, or I have been using the Clear Radiance as a blush, as it is much pinker. I also dip my lipstick in this and apply and it satys on all day.
I've wondered about the knock-offs, but I like this stuff so much I'm scared to change now. I told dh I'd go without food before buying other make-up now. I was joking....I think!
I have a pot of the Light foundation which I can't really use. It's unopened and sealed still. If anyone's interested, PM me and I'll send it to you.

Ya'll have once again influenced me to purchase something....
I bought a BM kit from QVC after the last discussion about it on here. I love it! I got a spring-time kit with a little of this and that to get me started and then I also bought mineral veil. I haven't tried the eyeliner stuff yet. It took me a while to figure out how to open the slide-out brush that came with it.
My only problem is that one of my eye shadows got shook around and there's way too much out in the top of it. I hate wasting it but it goes everywhere now. I'll have to be more careful.

Victoria...have you thought of an eyeshadow primer?
[QUOTE]
Thanks for info on colorful sprinkles. I'm bookmarking that site! Never heard of eyeshadow primer, so I'll be looking for that too.
An Ulta store just opened in Tucson and I had to go to see the BE line. I bought the revver upper and I'll try to report back on that!
