Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Jen and Angela,

Praying for you both You were the talk of our breakfast table, we were trying to imagine tornadoes. One of my dc just asked if we'd heard how you were now, so I was just checking for updates.

Angela,
You've swapped snowstorms for tornadoes!

Praying for any other 4Real members in the path.

I've been watching the footage and forcast on the weather channel. It's really unbelievable the tornadic activity today - all over the place...and unusually hard hitting this past week and month...let's pray it settles...

We were hit directly by another strong tornado this afternoon. We lost numerous trees, our mailbox, our dear purplemartin house snapped and all the babies are gone. Lots of other little damage type things. Once again though, our house is (fairly) intact and we are ok. Thanks be to God! This was a record day for tornado outbreaks...and there is sad news of fatalities everywhere with numbers expected to climb.

We are without power along with about 330,000 other people in north Alabama. A main power line at a local nuclear facility was snapped in one of the storms. We may be without power for days.

Thank you all for your prayers during this surreal day!!!

Jen,

If you see this, I have been trying to get in contact with you. I should have thought to look here first, but didn't until this morning. If you need anything, you know where we are. Have you heard from anyone else? Please update me when you can.

God bless,
Kristen

Jen, still praying. I'm sure you must still be without power. My dad had his power knocked out at the house, too, but was fine. I'm not sure if his power has been restored or not.

Scary, about Brown's Ferry.

I still can't believe how lucky we were here in northwest MS. I grew up about 30 minutes from where Jen lives so I'm only refamiliarizing myself with why the sirens they use in NY to call the volunteer fire department give me a queasy feeling. (They're supposed to be for tornadoes.)

Mimi, your cousin in Tuscaloosa is ok???

Jen, prayers for you and the family. I was so relieved to hear you were safe. We are not that far away staying at my Dad's in Blount County as there is not any power in Marshall where we live. Let us know what you need! I know gas and other necessities are hard to come by so let us know.

The tornado that hit Arab and the Ruth and Union Grove communities where we live passed less than 1/4 of a mile from the shelter I was in. Please, keep this family in your prayers.

Also, my Dad said our cousin's wife lost her aunt and uncle in the early morning storms that hit Pisgah, AL. Lindsay and I have extended family on both sides scattered all through the affected areas. Trenton, GA was also hit, which was our late mother's hometown and we haven't heard how her brother faired through the storm. Reingold (sp?) the community just above it was completely wiped out and had several fatalities.

The power situation is rather dire. Brown's Ferry, the nuclear power plant Jenn mentioned, had to do an emergency power down when the storms knocked out the lines. I'm told that this means that once power is restored because of how it had to power down it's a two week start-up minimum if there was no further damage to the core. Also, high tension feeder lines to a lot of the communities were knocked completely over and those will take a long time to repair not counting the damage in the individual communities.   There are spots in the county I live in that have power from Wheeler Dam and they are currently trying to bring power in from the southern portion of the state.

Also, for reasons that haven't been shared our parish priest decided to go ahead and have First Communion today. This has caused quite a bit of frustration on the part of a lot of parishoners, myself included. He just became our pastor this past summer and the adjustment is proving difficult. Prayers for all involved would be very much appreciated. It's been a very stressful week and tensions are high.

Hail Mary...
