Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

the above is now incorrect and incomplete

it's likely that the closest spacing will be 14 months and that should go at the end of the list being between 9 and 10.

My twins are 14 minutes apart. When they were born I had 4 kids under 4 (for about a month). Those days are kind of a blur.

Congratulations Jodie and Lisbet!!! Almost missed this!
I thought 11 years between #2 and #3 (due to secondary infertility) disqualified me from posting on this thread! Such blessed news! We will keep you both in prayer!

Wow, how awesome Lisbet and JodieLyn! So excited for you both.

I had thought my fertility may slow down over time, but maybe not after seeing those announcements. But, I'm not complaining. We have 4 who are 3 and under(until Nov.) And I'm pretty sure I'll be expecting by then. We get a lot of looks and comments(a lot of negative) if we take all the Littles into a store. But I don't mind, unless they say something negative with in listening ear of the Littles. If i get the comment "I'm glad they're not mine" I've decided to say back "So am I, we love all our kids and are glad they are ours." With a happy , of course!

My "desire" doesn't really go away either, Lisbet . I was thinking that but wasn't going to say it, but now I'm not the only one. It does kinda get slpothchy at times, but never goes away. But, I'm glad it's that way for my husband, so many women are negative towards their husbands after having a baby.

Congrats Jodie and Lisa! How exciting!

My closest are my first two, they are one year, one week and one day apart. We always got asked if they were twins. Not so much anymore though. Maybe because they are 24 and 25 and look different?

The rest were varying and with miscarriages between a few. Frankly I'm too tired to do the math right now as my 4 yr. old was up coughing at 5am and it turns out the cough medicine makes her hyper. I need a nap.

I have decided that "most" of the people that make comments simply don't think about what is coming out of their mouths. I HAVE TO believe that if people realized what was implied by their statements they would never say them. Just this past weekend at Costco, the ladies in line behind us were trying to figure out if they were "all boys" and once they asked and it was confirmed, the lady said, "that's why I stopped at three boys." Really? You don't like this one? Is there something wrong with him? I *think* she was actually trying to be friendly, and I can only imagine she would have been embarrassed to realize she'd just implied that we were disappointed with the beautiful little newborn among us, yk?

Congrats, Jodie and Lisa!!!

I do know, Lindsay. As the mother of 5 daughters and one son, I have heard more than my fair share of what, in charity, I must assume are thoughtless comments. You're right I"m sure - people just want to say something, trying to make a friendly connection. But we do have to keep reminding ourselves that there is no ill intent (or choose to ignore any ill intent that might be there) or else we would spend a lot of time being grumpy. This is a lesson I need to learn so often, about so many things.... Thanks for the reminder.

Peace,
Nancy

Yes Lindsay, I agree.. most people just say the first thing that pops into their mouth.. if I had a $1 for everytime I've heard "you've got your hands full", dh might be able to retire

And sometimes a prelude that sounds horribly negative (are they all yours?) is actually going to be followed by "oh you're so lucky" I almost missed that one and the lady was so nice.

So I try really hard to look at someone's face and just "be nice" no matter how I feel at hearing the comment. But then I have fun with those who make the fun comments and apparently have a fun sense of humor.. like the older gentleman who asked if I was starting my own army, I said, yes, we're planning on taking over

and occationally I answer "you've got your hands full" with "but I'm learning to juggle"

But while the negative comments are hard.. we really have gotten more positive comments than otherwise. Sometimes even more than that.. like the lovely gentleman last summer, we were out of town for a swim meet, short on funds so had planned to do all the food from home when we normally try and get one meal out. We'd taken the kids to Church Saturday evening, and a gentleman there thought the kids were really well behaved (easy after a day spent outside in the sun, they fall asleep in the cool church) and he apparently missed his grandchildren.. so he gave the kids enough money to go out for ice cream cones.

Congratulations, Jodie and Lisa!!!!!!!

Jodie wrote:

Over the years, it seems like I have been getting more encouraging and positive comments too. (And, we live in SEATTLE where gardens and dogs RULE! ) I would say that I get WAY more positive comments than negative these days, which is a nice change from when they were all little. Maybe that is the difference.....when they are ALL LITTLE....it's more shocking??? But when you have a few bigs thrown in with a preschooler, toddler and a baby, it's not that shocking???? Not sure.

If anything people are surprised, but definitely not mean or negative these days. I get a lot of the "hands are full" comments too....but I wouldn't say that's negative....it's true!

And, people at church are always VERY encouraging!!!! It makes SUCH a difference...so those of you who say encouraging words or smile, know that it is greatly appreciated!

And, the close spacing too....people who had close spacing growing up....always come up to us and ask how close they are and then say, "There were 13 months in between my sister and me" etc. And, people from large families always ask "Who is #2?" And, then they talk to that child, saying they were the second born, etc....it's so SWEET!

And, in my husband's work world, dh gets lots of astonished looks/comments from people when they find out he has 6 kids under the age of 10....but they are just surprised....after they get over the shock, most of the time they follow it up with some sort of comment about how it's "great!" And, many men (in their 50's or 60's) confide to him that they wished they would've had more kids
