We have 5 children, 4 daughters and our baby boy is almost 21months. I'm approaching 40 and would love more. I am still breastfeeding our son and my fertility hasn't returned...it usually returns 18-20 months postpartum. While I love the natural spacing ecological breastfeeding provides, I am getting a little impatient as to when my fertility will return. I am very aware that my fertile years could be coming to an end soon. When I read about all you ladies who have had multiple babies in your 40's it gives me hope!!

We have 5, ds8, ds6, dd4, dd4 and ds3. We have been practicing NFP since ds3 was born. We both know we couldn't handle another finacally or emotionally right now.
Sometimes we have days when we dreamily think of all the bliss involved with adding to our family. Then another sibling squabble breaks out or something expensive breaks and we come back to the conclusion that another child now would not be right for us.
I don't know if I could physically handle another pregnancy either. I have had dizziness issues while pregnant in the past which lead to bed rest when I was having my twins. I am now having dizzy spells while not pregnant.

Grateful, do you have low blood pressure? Sometimes you can help that by really pushing fluids.

My blood pressure is on the low side of normal. I've tried drinking more water. Sometimes it helps. Other times I get queasy and feel bloated from all of the water but stay fuzzy headed. I'm having a real hard time finding a balance that works.
I have had a few hot flashes and heart palpitations in the last few months too. If I'm not mistaken these are symptoms of perimenapause(sp?) (I'm only 37 so this seems early). Sometimes I get dizzy upon standing and other times it can happen while I am sitting. The scariest is when my I get tunnel vision, lose my hearing and break into a cold sweat all at once. It never last for very long but it is scary.
I should probably go the the doctor but I haven't been able to bring myself to make the appointment.

sometimes in order to drink enough water you need to keep your electrolytes up as well. Drink 2 waters for ever 1 other drink (gatorade, other sports drinks, smart water). You're getting your electrolytes out of balance when you get queasy drinking water.

Hi! I haven't posted on here forever! We have eight kids. Things are hectic here a lot. I'd still love more, though.

JodieLyn,
Wow, that sure does make sense. I can't believe I never figured that out. I'll be running to the store later today. I sure hope it does the trick.
Thank you so much!

Definitely try Jodie's suggestion! And at the same time, make that appointment for a complete physical, please! You don't want to wind up having a spell while out driving your dear kiddies. Also, if all this happens on a somewhat regular basis, try jotting down when and what you were doing, so you can give your doc a thorough description of what you are experiencing.
Prayers for you!!!
In Christ,

I have 6 children ages: 10,9,7,5,4 and 11 mo. After my last was born I felt confident that I absolutely did not want any more. My last two pregnancies have been very complicated. But recently both dh and I have felt that God really is not done with us in that area. We are still avoiding for a while. I want my health to be as good as I can manage before another to help lower my risks.
I wish we had more support in our lives with our family size. There is no one in parish with a family as big as ours. There are a couple that have had 4 but their kids are grown. And I do get plenty of complements. But some are the backhanded ones like telling me I deserve a medal for having so many kids and then saying they were sure glad they only had 2. I'd feel better if everyone would just stop feeling compelled to comment on our family size one way or the other.

I like having Emergen-C onhand. It has electrolytes if anyone is feeling dehydrated, and it has the Vit C which I like for when anyone is coming down with anything.
