UPDATE: I sent both of my parents a letter- I just could not speak to them for fear of a major breakdown.
As far as the Orthodontist situation goes- Dh was able to ask for a reduction in rates and a payment plan with no interest. We will get 25% off what they originally charged- and will pay 100.00 a month- a far cry from what they wanted!
We will be paying this off forever! but God is so good and we know we can find 100.00 a month. Thank you for all of your heartfelt prayers and encouragement- and please continue to pray if you would for the aftermath of this letter to be fruitful. With much love and prayers for all of you,

Lisa, I've been away from posting on the prayer requests but want you to know that I have been thinking about you and praying for you. Although we are called to honor our parents at all times, we are also obligated to protect ourselves and family. Tough stuff.

In my heart of hearts, I think that the question of money gets all muddied when we get stuck in a particular way of thinking and have blanket rules (We never loan money. We always bail others out.) We come from the place that any money we have is God's. He has given it to us to be good stewards with it. We are to share it prudently, generously, and freely. This takes discernment and leaps of faith. Dh and I came to this understanding through the work of the Holy Spirit, because we were not raised with this example.

My prayer for you is that you all can come to a better understanding about what everyone needs. Hang in there with strength and charity. You are doing great.

I'm just getting caught up on all the prayer requests, but wanted to say that you are, and will remain, in my prayers. These issues can be so difficult, and I'm sorry you've had to deal with them! Hugs to you!
