Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been feeling soooo lonely lately....It's crazy, I know, in this big family...but hubby is working or sleeping, and I have to be so careful about getting into any crowds or around sick folk with my commpromised immune system, I feel just awful.

The days are busy enough, but the loneliness always seems to be there....nights are the worse. Very dark and dreary for sure....

Your prayers are greatly appreciated

I am praying for you, Joann. It's hard when you feel so isolated.

May I make a couple of suggestions? I've found that reading biographies of saints who were wives and moms is very helpful...this helps me know that I am not the only mom to face setbacks, illness, second-guessing, etc. Also, staying in touch with far-away friends via phone and email can really, really help. It takes some time to adjust to the idea, in some ways - your friend can't meet you for lunch, and you can't help her tidy her house before her family descends for a visit - but long distance friendships can really and truly be very, very fulfilling. I wish I'd been able to figure that out much sooner than I did. My best friends live many states (and, in one case, an ocean) away. It makes no difference...we're there for each other, always.

Sending cyberhugs to you!!!!

Praying for you Joann. Something that has helped me with extreme loneliness is contemplating our Blessed Mother's experiences in the Flight into Egypt and the Hidden Life in Nazareth. May our Lady of Sorrows bless you, assist you and comfort you in your season of loneliness. Nestling with dc at night in our bedroom, for read-alouds or a light movie, is one of my favorite remedies lately. Praying you experience some relief.

Praying for you, Joann! I know the feeling of loneliness even when you are surrounded with people. My heart goes out to yours. May you find comfort with Our Blessed Mother and Our Lord, who surely felt lonely during their trials.

I love Nancy's suggestion of reading the saints.

I prayed for you especially this morning, Joann, during the Candlemas prayers at Mass:

Emphasis mine:
Third Prayer from the Blessing of the Candles, Mass of The Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary wrote:
O Lord Jesus Christ, the true Light Who enlightenest every man that cometh into this world: pour forth Thy blessing upon these candles, and sanctify them with the light of Thy grace, and mercifully grant, that as these lights, enkindled with visible fire, dispel the darkness of night, so our hearts illumined by invisible fire, that is, by the splendor of the Holy Ghost, may be free from every blindness due to vice: so that with clear sight our minds may discern what is pleasing to Thee and profitable to our salvation; so that after the darksome perils of this life we may deserve to attain to never fading light: Through Thee, O Christ Jesus, Savior of the world, Who in the perfect Trinity, livest and reignest, God, world without end.

Amen.

I have one of our blessed candles lit for you and your intentions right now, Joann! My prayer dear friend, is that the Light of the World will illuminate the darkness and dispel the loneliness you are experiencing so that your heart will be filled with the splendor of the Holy Ghost!

We are in quarantine too - for our baby's sake (see post about Baby Patrick above). I will pray for you, and you can e-mail me if you'd like since we seem to be in a similar boat. -cmmom
