Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am a brand new member of 4Real. I also am brand new to homeschooling, this being our very first year!

Welcome, Sarah!!

I am currently reading "A Little Way of Homeschooling," and I have been so inspired by the faith of these women! And even though I'm probably not the unschooling type, I am gaining nuggets of wisdom from them, and I am edified by their faithfulness to seeking out what works for their families. Every family is so different!

Love, love, love this book! It is absolutely inspring and builds up one's confidence to have the faith and courage to step out of the mold and really follow what works with your family. A beautifully written book, to be sure.

I also am just discovering Charlotte Mason, and I am eager to learn more! I love the idea of "living books"!
Well, I think that's me in a nutshell; at least where I am at this very beginning moment of my homeschooling journey! I look forward to the discussions here at this forum. I am sure I am going to learn a lot from all of you!

What a treasure Charlotte Mason is. Honestly. She is a gift to me. Over the past few years I have grown to be so passionate about her methods and philosophy of learning. Can one really know all there is to know about Ms. Mason? I don't think so! I continue to learn and grow and as I do, I become more and more passionate about her. Now there's a woman with whom I'd love to share a cup of tea with!

Welcome again! You will be so blessed by all amazing women here

Hi,

My name is Megan and I am a home school Mom to 3 children. I am thrilled beyond words to have found this group and look forward to jumping in. I have been researching and revising our schooling thoughts and plans for the last few months and have loved the plethora of information available here.

I provide day care to 5 kiddos (1 full time, 4 part time) under the age of 2 during my spare time.

I am a cradle Catholic who is learning much right along with her children and have been experiencing much prompting from the Holy Spirit to work on my duties as wife, mother and teacher.

Thank you for allowing me to join you in this journey and for sharing your love for our Lord and Lady so openly.

God bless and Mary keep you~
Megan

I'm excited to have you here and look forward to getting to know you! Welcome to the boards and jump right in!

Thank you, Jen, Missy and Chris, for your kind words of welcome! I sure would love to share that cup of tea (or coffee) and conversation with you. But since that isn't possible, I am glad that I found this forum. It seems like a very kind and encouraging place. I have a million questions already, and I'm only 6 weeks into homeschooling! I am tentatively thinking about asking some of them here, but right now, I have just been perusing the archives and discovering such wonderful ideas and possibilities. I have to start taking notes and filing them away for the future ~ LOL!

Blessings,
Sarah

This is great, Sarah! And I do this so much as well!

Just wanted to mention, since you're new to the forum, that you might really enjoy adding some of the threads you find to your *FAVORITES*. It's sort of a way of bookmarking on the boards! If you find a thread you really like and think it's a gem, scroll down to the bottom of a page....down on the bottom left, there will be some blue wording and one of them will say:

Add this topic to my favorites

CLICK ON IT IF YOU REALLY LIKE A THREAD!

Now, when you want to see your little bouquet of favorites, look up to the banner at the top of the page (where the picture is on the left)....just under that there is a blue ribbon that runs across the page with some white words there - this is our Navigation bar. Your favorites are right there!    I have collected many, many favorites over the years!

Have a delightful time searching in the archives, Sarah! And if you have another question or thought that tags onto a thread topic you find in the archives, just post on that thread and revive it! It could be that others would enjoy that thread from the archives, too! And, I love revisiting old threads!

Hi! I've been reading the forum for several months now as I browse for ideas. I especially love the domestic church ideas & links to so many incredible blogs. I first homeschooled in 2000. I have returned to homeschooling this year after a four year hiatus. Our children are 17yo, 12yo, and 2yo. I'm schooling the 12yo.

My name is Karen. Our family lives in Missouri. We've five kids: three boys ages 14, 11 and 9 and two girls ages 4 and 2. From nearly the beginning, we've been implementing a Charlotte Mason education *to the best of my understanding, which has grown with time* .

We started out with Sonlight, drawn to it because of the books! Sonlight uses the technique of narration which I relied on heavily because our oldest was allergic to pencils Very shortly, I was able to see the tremendous rewards of narration and began to research it which led me to Charlotte Mason. Well, the more I implemented the more I trusted her wisdom and so the more I implemented and so on...It's just such a good fit for us.

Early on, I read through CM's works searching for those tidbits of what I could put into practice in our home right away. Lately, as her methods are now very familiar and comfortable, I've become more and more interested in her philosophy---the whys behind the methods. Which I can say is truly blessing our implementation of her methods as well in extraordinary ways.

Looking forward to my time on these boards and getting to know you all!

Yes, those pencil allergies run strong in our family, we have three sufferers---must be something in that "y" chromosome.

I believe you will find yourself among many kindred spirits here then, Karen! Perhaps we could start a club? Moms of pencil allergy sufferers!!!
