Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, that is so great, Michele. Just very little subtle changes, really, when you look at it!

I know! I made both using the same program and when I went to line them up it was perfect. The changes are quite subtle.

I do wish the OF hadn't dispensed with those pre-lent weeks though. I find them incredibly helpful as a reminder that Lent is near and helping me to prepare for it. In those times when life is busy and I'm not paying attention the shock of purple on Septuagesima Sunday is a nice reminder to get my act together for Lent. But that's me . . .I know you are all far more organized about such things!

I totally agree about Septuagesima, Michelle. I really like "easing" into Lent.

I understand the easing into Lent, but I personally like the clear delineation. Violet/Purple means Advent or Lent for seasons.

I like the readings and prayers geared up for Lent, to help us prepare, but I'd prefer a different color for the signal that Lent is coming. Of course, that isn't going to happen with a new color.

I really like the calendar, Michele! Now I can picture it in my mind much easier.

Those charts are all wonderful, Jenn and Michele! It really helps to visual how these calendars relate. I am having trouble seeing how the "organic development" that I think the Holy Father would prefer could merge these two calendars. I can only see a common calendar if the Church basically decrees one.

As far as living both at once, I'd love to add the preparatory days for Lent, extend the Christmas season out, and I'd like to add in the Ember Days, too. I would love to get the Latin-English breviary you linked to, Michele. Reading Pius Parsch and Dom Gueranger inspires me to celebrate the liturgical year in a more traditional way. I just wonder if that will be confusing as I generally celebrate feasts according to the OF, because we have no EF anywhere nearby.

It's funny. My ds (9) was just saying this morning, "Mom, maybe one day they will say the whole Mass in Latin and then we can go and use our Latin!" He has no exposure, sadly, to the EF, so I explained it to him. I'd love to go "use my Latin" (pathetic though it be).
