Well, ladies, I need to go. It is my bedtime and I have a busy day tomorrow starting with riding lessons for my dd. I hope I can read the rest of the retreat later, right?

I am off to bed, but not without a little Nightbook entry:
I am wearing many layers! long silk underthingies, wine red cotton turtle neck, 2nd hand cashmere pullover, wool gauchoskirt, hand knit wool socks (that do not fit right, the heel is now on the top of my foot! It was my first pair to knit myself ) and birkenstock sandels. I look very fashionable
I just had to feel my head to see what hairdo I have. PONYTAIL
Outside it is dark, but for the snow reflecting on the trees in the light of the street lamps. I love snow covered branches. The snow makes everything a bit quieter.
To drink eggnog of course! I wish.
That's it for tonight, ladies.
I wonder how many pages this thread will have , when I wake up tomorrow morning.
Gute Nacht!

Good night, Stephanie! I'm just imagining how lovely those snow covered branches look...all glistening in the light. Makes a positively idyllic picture thought for me!

we call it "tropical permasweat" around here
we, too, have been wondering about holiday tunes in other places. at our company Christmas party a table full of Tongans were stumped by "White Christmas," which was brand new to them.
anybody have tunes to share from other continents? cultures? or I could break into a rousing rendition of "Mele Kalikimaka" ... or "Numba One Day of Christmas (My Tutu Give to Me)"
ETA: Jen, I've never actually seen "Donovan's Reef." but I did get to attend a baby shower at the house that was used in the filming. GORGEOUS home, right on a bluff overlooking a river and the ocean. guess I need to see the movie!

Good night, Carole and Stephanie.
I miss Alice...and Dawn...and Dawnie...and Meredith
Theresa - I also didn't know you were no longer in Alaska. What a gorgeous place you are living in now!
I am wearing - navy dockers, red cotton turtleneck, grey cardigan, grey socks with black polka dots, grey boiled wool Haflinger clogs
I am drinking - melted vanilla ice cream?
Later I will be - going out to dinner with dh; youngest dd is at a friend's guitar recital; next 3 oldest will be going to a Christmas party at home of 2nd dd and her husband
One of my favorite things - when my *older* kids choose to see one another socially. Makes me feel like we must have done something right...
Outside - it is dark, chilly, air full of that snow smell - hey, today we had a high above 32 F. - a first in a couple of weeks
Inside - a wood fire, some Christmas decorations, Christmas-scented candles burning all over the place - cozy
Peace,
Nancy

... I'm going to quietly excuse myself. I *must*, must! do some online bathtub research (that I've promised to do, but haven't). You'd think that I cared just a bit more about the layout of what will be the master bathroom, but alas, I don't. What's a tub? ... so you see, there in lies my lack of self-motivation to choose a tub. I'm a shower gal .
I'll pop back in periodically. Blessings all!

How fun!
What a gorgeous home and view, Theresa!
I am wearing...jeans and a long sleeve black shirt.
I am drinking...water. Lots of water since I'm taking an antibiotic & nursing.
Outside my window...It's dark and cold. 14 degrees! So thankful for the wood burning and heating our home.
A favorite thread...anything discussing Charlotte Mason. I was really interested in CM when I was student teaching and before we started homeschooling, but I thought it would be "too hard". Now, I find myself (and the kids) not enjoying the workbooks and "school at home" approach so much. So, I'm trying to figure out how to make the switch.
A retreat visitor I wish would drop in is...anyone!
If I weren't on this "retreat" I should be...cleaning floors (always such a mess, especially in winter), and wrapping Christmas presents after the kids go to bed!
I am hoping...for a wonderful Christmas for everyone.
