Hello everyone! Not here for long, but glad to be joining in. I wonder if anyone has a great eggnog recipe. I cannot find it in the stores over here and perhaps what I need is a good recipe. |

Hey, Carole, I just linked to "That's the Spirit"
I may try this one from allrecipes.com because of the rave reviews. For as much as I love egg nog, I've never made it from scratch.

We always make the this eggnog from Taste of Home. Even my non-eggnog drinking relatives have liked it. My kids beg for me to make it each year.

OH!!! It would be so fantastic to see them both!! I miss them both dearly!
I'm sorry you're feeling so icky today, friend! But...there's nothing like chatting it up about chocolate bar preferences and how to spike your favorite egg nog to distract those thoughts of yours away from "what if" toward "lighter stuff"!!!!!
Where are your pink fuzzy slippers???

'afternoon everyone! I've just put my three beauties down for their quiet time and now, I'm ready for my lunch ... but am having a hard time deciding whether or not to saute some spinach with delicata squash and feta for lunch, or grab a shortbread cookie and a chunk of peanut-butter fudge with a square of Ghiradelli chocolate on top instead ... most likely I'll opt for the later with a hot cup of China Green Tips tea. Oh my, delish!
And of course, sharing with you all my peanut-butter fudge with two squares of Ghiradelli chocolate (the two-to-one ratio is key)!
How fun is this?
I am wearing... my trusty chocolate brown cargo pants with a plum v-neck tee, overlayed with my favorite Gramishi button down top, funky amethyst earrings, and striped purple socks.
I am drinking...blazing hot China Green Tips tea, but am just about ready to heat up some spiced wassle.
Outside my window...the sun is shining here in the Great Pacific NW and I am loving every squinty-eyed minute of my surroundings
A retreat visitor I wish would stop in... well, it just wouldn't feel right to single any one person out, and I don't feel one bit cheesy saying "You're ALL my favorites!".
If I weren't on this retreat I should be... I'll just say "ditto" to how everyone else answered - there are a bazillion "to-dos" on my list!
I am hoping... to finish making gifts for my kids, my niece, and my two darling little nephews in time to ship them off for Christmas arrival.
Happy to be here with you all wonderfully, beautiful women!

Love the day book idea!
I am wearing: Lands End dark pink scoop neck T and jeans
I am drinking: water (I know... boring)
Outside my window: kids screaming happily and chasing each other in the backyard
Fav thread: I love to hear about what people are reading to their kids and what their favs are
A retreat visitor I'd like to see: Helen (miss you!)
I should be: wrapping gifts and/or doing laundry
I'm hoping: This time next year we will be making and eating LOTS of cookies here.

I am wearing...a red t shirt, black sweats and my blue and white sneakers and a baby! I am nak and getting ready to run out and do some errands... comfy and quick clothes today!!
I am drinking...hot ciniminish tea Original Good Earth...very nice on this cold day!
Outside my window...cold and grey. People are hurrying home from work outside my window and I just remembered that I didn't make anything for dinner...oops!
A retreat visitor I wish would drop in is...oh...everyone!!
If I weren't on this "retreat" I should be...getting dinner, doing more laundry and running out to the farm to grab several gallons of fresh milk-yum!
I am hoping...that my twins get home soon from their internship at an organic farm. I need my wonderful babysitters around so I can be Mrs. Claus. and I hope to get to that milk so I can make some Egg Nog tonight and watch JAG with dh...date night!!

Theresa is practically my NEIGHBOR! Lovely, lovely, home (thanks for the pic).
My meme used to make divinity and it was my absolute fovorite as a child!...but no one else in the family seems to have the knack for it .
I am wearing... black pants, a cute black and white knit top with quarter length sleeve and collar. I'm getting ready to meet friends so I'm trying to look nice!
I am drinking... garlic tea...trying to ward off a sinus infection
Outside my window...it is GORGEOUS!!!! We had record breaking heat here until yesterday and today I'm guessing we're in the 70s. All my boys are out front playing wiffle ball with the neighbor kids who are off school for Christmas.
A favorite thread... too many to choose from...
short stories
debt-free college degree
happy moms
baseball moms unite!
A retreat visitor I wish would drop in is...
Young mothers considering home education!
If I weren't on this "retreat" I should be... doing laundry...always... and getting our CDs and DVDs organized - again .
I am hoping... our family stays in good health for Christmas celebrations
YOUR TURN!!!!!!!

HI!
I hate eggnog, but my ds12 LOVES the stuff.
My favorite cookie is oatmeal cookies with butterscotch and chocolate chips. But the one I have to make, or oldest dd doesn't feel like it is Christmastime, is Spritz cookies. I do refuse to use the torture-machine-horrible-awful-cookie-press. I make them like drop cookies, but swirl in colors.
I am wearing...Baggy green cargo corduroys, and a coral tank top.
I am drinking...Iced Sweet Tea. Pretty much that is all I drink
Outside my window...it is RAINING & CLOUDY ! Which isn't snow but at least it feels more Christmasy that the 70 degree weather we were having!
A favorite thread...I have just been enjoying reconnecting here. I kind of went into hiding after my brother passed, but I have missed you all.
A retreat visitor I wish would drop in is...Gosh, everyone. I love hearing from people.
If I weren't on this "retreat" I should be...doing dishes, laundry, and sweeping. This is WAY more fun
I am hoping...that my mom and oldest dd arrive soon, and that my poor ds12's cough goes away and he doesn't spend Christmas sick. Again.
So fun to "see" you all.
